I have - probably - another problem: sometimes Outlook 2013 do not read outlook.pst and become unconfigured. Any ideas?

I couldn´t find last outlook.pst, even in File History. Maybe I do not know how to yet.

Mac Outlook 2011 Unread mail smart folder shows wrong amount of email

In my inbox, in Outlook 2011 for Mac (with an exchange account if it makes any difference) I have 63 unread messages.  The folder list shows Inbox (63).  When I go into the inbox, I can clearly see that number of messages unread.  The problem is, the smart folder below for unread mail only shows 7!

When I add the Unread filter to the inbox, again I see only 7.  When I sort the Inbox by status, the unread section of that sort shows the 63 that it should.  I have cleared out the rules for the unread smart folder and recreated them - status is unread, folder is inbox.  Still 7 messages listed only.

OS is Mountain Lion, Mac office is fully updated and this function worked perfectly with a previous hosted exchange provider.  Switched to Office 365 a few days ago and this issue remains.

Any clue how I can get this fixed?  Thanks!

PSTs from backups to fresh Outlook 2010 installs

Hi.

I want to restore .pst from backups to their twenty users. I know how to do this manually, but rather than doing this all by hand (over twenty users and three XP client plus SBS 2011 Essentials server) I want to automate the progress.

The backups are on a shared folder where they can be copied to each computer's hard-drive by a run-once script. Client computers have a fresh Outlook 2010 (retail). I made the script to copy the .pst file from the network location and place it to the default Outlook 2010 folder where it creates the .pst files ((C:\%USERPROFILE%\yadda yadda\)) with the idea that when a user opens up the Outlook 2010, it'd use the retrieved .pst file and the user doesn't have to do anything.

Yeah, it doesn't work that way. Apparently if the default .pst file already exists, Outlook simply creates another one with different name when it's opened for the first time. I recall it actually does this to different location as well (My Documents folder?). I'd still have to add the accounts by hand.

So how can I solve this dilemma? I suppose I'd have to edit some Outlook registry key to force it to work?

We don't have Exchange nor Office 360.

Oh, and the backup .pst files are from Outlook 2007. But from what I have gathered that shouldn't be issue.

Search from Outlook 2010 brings few results when cached mode used

When I search my Inbox from Outlook 2010 from my Windows 7 PC, I get very few results and what I get  are usually only very recent mail messages from the current day or a few days back.

If I really need to find all the messages with a key word, I have to log into OWA and search from there since the OWA interface finds all the matching messages.

The Windows search service is enabled, Microsoft Outlook is included in Indexing options and I have tried both Include results only from "Current folder" and "all folders."

I am not using any psts and the problem followed when I got a new PC.

Outlook is in Cached Exchange Mode.  If I turn off cached mode, the search works, but that isn't a solution.

How can a message search be made to work when cached Exchange mode is enabled?

outlook 2007 delay delivery email won't send if outbox is viewed before scheduled delivery time.  Status changes to "none" for delivery time if email is viewed in outbox.  This just started happening recently (before it worked fine)

Automatically open ICS file received from Lotus Notes

Hi All,

When sending a meeting invitation from Lotus Notes (version 7.0.4) to Outlook 2010, Outlook receives the ICS file in attachment.

Does someone know if it is possible to receive the invitation directly without having to open the attachment ICS?

Thank you!

Deleted profile reappears after computer reboot with Outlook 2010

I have a few different profiles that I created when I was doing some testing.  Now I want to remove all profiles except for the one that is my regular email.  I go to Control Panel and then Mail and choose show profiles.  Then I delete the profiles that I do not need any longer.  That all works fine, but when I reboot the computer, all of the deleted profiles come back and it is set to use one of them as the default.  I delete the profiles againn and I can go into my email.  I also notice that a few settings in Outlook have been removed (how long before a message is marked read when I open in the reading pane and the setting to send/receive immediately).

I have been trying to figure this one out for quite some time, but I have no idea how this is happening.  Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Outlook 2010 unable to forward iCalendar request. - The messaging interface has returned an unknown error

I have a user with a unique error that I haven't been able to find a resolution for.

She is running Outlook 2010 Standard 32bit on a Windows XP machine SP3 with all current patches and updates.  Mail account is through an Exchange server.

As part of her job, if someone in her department is scheduling a day off, she creates an appointment in her Outlook calendar for that day and saves the appointment.  She then goes to that day in the Outlook calendar and opens the appointment.  She forwards the appointment to the supervisors and managers of the department as an iCalendar so that they may place it in their own Calendars to be aware of staffing needs.

This worked seamlessly for her when she was using Outlook 2003.  She was recently updated to Outlook 2010. Since that time, anytime she attempts to 'forward as iCalendar' she immediately gets error message, "The Operation Failed. The messaging interfaces returned an unknown error.  If the problem persists restart Outlook."

The event log shows the following error regarding this problem:

Microsoft Outlook
The operation failed.  The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.
P1: 301670
P2: 14.0.4763.1000
P3: 6xk3
P4: 0x80040103

I have checked under FILE > Options and on the General Options tab verified that Outlook is set as the default program for E-mail, Contacts and Calendar.

I have run the repair utility on her Office 2010, completely uninstalled and re-installed it.  I have had her run Outlook in safe mode and I have run the scanpst.exe on her inbox and pst files, but none of this has resolved the problem.

One thing that I have noticed, is that she is able to just forward the item.  It's only when she attempts to forward it as iCalendar that the error happens.

She is able to open iCalendar formatted messages that are sent to her and add them to her Calendar.

This is the only type of message that she receives this error for.  All of the other functions in Outlook and her Calendar are working with no issues.

I've been trying to find a solution for this for several weeks now and every thing that I have checked appears to be okay on her system.  If anyone has any ideas or suggestions to check, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you in advance.

Latest skinny on saving customized calendar views?

$

I see a lot of sad-people threads here! People wanting to set their Outlook 2010 calendars to display certain calendars (like personal and shared or a personal calendar) and having the setting stick between application close/relaunches.

Is this still not possible?

I have a client who is experiencing a similar issue. She wants two calendars to remain selected between close/relaunch. Does not happen.

Exchange 2010 environment. User is using patched Outlook 2010. I am pretty sure this was working before in a custom Calendar Group called "Work Calendars." In there we had her personal calendar and her boss's calendar. Both were showing and that view retained between Outlook close and launch.

It stopped working.

I can't fix it. :-(

Anything I can do?

Cheers,
Mike Whalen

Outlook 2013 IMAP folders not populating

$

Since upgrading from Outlook 2010 to 2013, IMAP folders which are sub-folders in the Inbox haven't been syncing.

They show in the folder list but they remain empty. Looking in the Sync Issues folder shows the below for each sub-folder:

16:28:27 Synchronizer Version 15.0.rup

16:28:27 Synchronizing Mailbox 'james.mcewen@daily.co.uk'

16:28:27 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'cPanel'

16:28:27 Error synchronizing folder

16:28:27                               [8004010F-0-0-560]

16:28:27 Done

The folders sync OK in other clients (ie Outlook 2010, Thunderbird etc) so it looks to be the way IMAP has been implemented in 2013.

I created a new profile and set the account up from scratch with no change.

I have found one other thread from an earlier preview version which didn't seem to be solved.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.. James.

How can I remove message indent lines?

$

Sometimes I receive emails with indent lines on the left. Usually this happens when this email has been forwarded around a lot. When I forward this email myself, I try to clean it up. But when I get to a section with these indent lines, nothing I do will remove them. Not delete, not remove indent, not the eraser, nothing. The only thing I can do is cut the content I want to keep, delete the entire section with the indent lines, then paste the cut section back into a non-indented section of my email.

I'm using using Outlook 2010, but this problem has been around for a long time. I was just hoping that there would finally be a solution.

Outlook Hyperlinks with - file:///%userprofile%

$

Hi everyone

Are there anyone who knows if it is a possible way for work around the hyperlink restriction in outlook.

My problem is the followring. :)

I wish to make a link to a userprofile folder in outlook.. that is normaly not possible, because urls need a full path name.

But if i use the file:/// extentions it is possible (not 2 but 3 slashes ///)

The problem in outlook is that if I write the file:///  - i can't clik OK?

If i copy the path - file:///%25userprofile%25 - into the mail and hit space/enter and try to klik on the hyperlink nothings happens, and if i look into the hyperlink i can see that there arent any ulr adresse for the link, so ofc. nothing happens.

If i make a link in IE to file:///%userprofile% it is not possible to open the link, but if i type file:///%userprofile% in the adresse line it opens up the corret path, and so for chrome and firefox..

so does anyone knows if it is possible to make a link in outlook to the userprofile folder?

Thanks for your time :)

Best regards

Martin

accessing contact list in PST file

$

good evening all;

I am using Outlook 2010 under Windows 7.  I recently moved my PST file from an old external drive (FAT32) to a brand new and larger external drive (NTFS); all the emails and contacts were in the same PST file.

with the PST file in the new location/drive I can use "account setting" to read/access the PST file and see all the emails with their attachments.  However I can not see the contact list!  All the contacts in the list seem to have disapeared!

the contact folder is properly enabled, and I can see it when I write an email and click on the field "to" however it is grayed out.

similarly when I go from the "mail" folder (ctrl+1) to the "contact" folder (ctrl+3), I can see the contact folder but is it empty and grayed out.

could any one indicate how I can retrieve my contacts???

thank you so much

Color Schemes delivered with Outlook are terrible

Sorry, I don't know of a nice way to say it, but the as-delivered color schemes for Outlook 2010 are horrid.

All 3 of the colors are very difficult to read. What happened to the nice legible look of the demo? Is there a way to have button outlines for that good old "organized" look, or is the wave of the future this "floaty" look? I sure hope not. This looks look like it was lifted from a Mac.

Sorry to sound so negative, but this just seems like a big step backwards.

If anyone has something helpful I would appreciate it, but I'm guessing the answer is that this is just how it is.

Outlook 2010 - Multiple Exchange Accounts - Won't send from second account

$

I've setup multiple exchange accounts in Outlook 2010.  I receive fine for both accounts, but cannot send from second account.  Sent email goes to the Outbox and stays there.

I've tried going back to a second profile, and it works fine.  Mail in Outbox from efforts above stay in Outbox.  If I pull them up, I can resend with no issue.

I need to be able to send with multiple accounts in same profile to do other projects I'm currently working on.  Any ideas???

Thanks,

Mike

I found a display bug in Outlook 2013.

In the mail list the seal for signed mails is the new one. However, the image is the ugly old one in the mail (look at the image)
