Responding Spell Check failure

I have a intermittent problem with Outlook 2010 Spell Checker. 

Problem: Spell Checker will not work when responding to certain messages.

It only happens on messages sent by either a cell phone, or a mac.

If I create a new email, it works like it should.

Does anyone know how to make it work all the time?
