Hi Everyone,
I formerly submitted this post to the Group Policy forum since at first glance this appeared to be a group policy issue. However, the moderator determined that this is more of a Outlook client issue rather than a group policy one. So here goes...
We have a Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory domain environment with Exchange 2010 Sp1 (RU6) servers. I am trying to rollout the Safe Senders list to all Outlook 2010 client machines.
When I run gpresult /R on my machine it does indeed show that the policy is being applied. The same goes for when I run a report on my user account with Group Policy Results in the GP management console. And indeed when I lok at my computer's registry, all the settings that the policy configures are shown. They include the following:
- junkmailimportappent REG_DWORD 0X00000001 (1)
- JunkMailImportLists REG_DWORD 0X00000001 (1)
- junkmailsafesendersfile REG_SZ \\MYDOMAIN.LOCAL\NETLOGON\Outlook\safe_senders.txt
I have verified that the network path (above) to the safe senders text file is valid and contains an email address we want to allow for our Outlook clients' safe senders. Additionally I do not see any applicable group policy events in the domain controller's event viewer.
I have run gpupdate /force on our domain controllers as well as on my test machine. However, when I restart and check my Outlook 2012 client, I do not see a listing for the email address under the Safe Senders tab in my "Junk E-mail Options".
Lastly, When I have researched this issue on the Internet I have found something interesting, but I am unsure that this is the "smoking gun". Perhaps one of you can speak to this. That is, our ADMX template for the policy contains all the configurable options except for the "Trigger to apply junk email list settings". My understanding is that this must be enabled in order for Outlook to pull down the listing from Active Directory when Outlook launches. Is this perhaps the missing piece, and does anyone know of a way that I can get this setting added to the ADMX template file? Alternatively, I could create a .reg file that has the required settings, and push it out via a GPO but I don't know what the settings are. Perhaps someone could tell me?
Thanks sincerely for your assistance in advance.
