Environment is SBS 2008, i.e. Exchange 2007. Users run Windows 7 with Office 2010, all running in Cached Exchange Mode.
I have one user who is unable to download the GAL. I try doing it via File > Account Settings > Download Address Book, or Send/Receive > Send/Recieve Groups > Download Address Book.
I get the transfer window opening and after several minutes the progress bar appears and moves up to halfway with the message "1 of 2 tasks performed". And that's where it sits no matter how long I leave it. When I do this with other users, the transfer window opens and within 5 seconds at the most it disappears and I can go to the GAL in Outlook and see the changes that were made on the Exchange server.
I don't see any errors in the Event log on the PC or the server during this period. This user has no other problems with Outlook or Windows.
As a workaround I disabled cached mode in this user's Outlook, but I'd really like to fix the problem and re-enable cached mode in case there are other performance issues for the user such as when accessing shared calendars, etc.
