Homegroup on Windows 8

Hello,

I have a Windows 8 laptop and Windows 8 Tablet, both are connected to the same network and on the same subnet. Both machines can ping each other and connect to the internet without any issue. When I attempt to add them both into the same homegroup they are unable to. Whichever I create a homegroup on the other is unable to detect the homegroup and therefor cannot join it. Previously it had worked from the laptop creating it (changed location sense so had to remake the homegroup as did not work in new location) and from the tablet creating it (Reinstalled windows on the laptop sense and it was unable to rejoin sense) I preformed the format today and have tried creating the homegroup on both ends several times and have reset both the router and access point. It's a rather annoying issue as I use the homegroup to play my music and videos saved on the laptop and not my Microsoft account across my other devices (Tablet and Xbox 360). My videos on my Microsoft account still are accessible from all devices at all times during my testing through Xbox video app. It should also be noted that I am having periotic connection issues when more then one device is using the internet in the house at a time, I believe that to be caused by either the router or access point in my new location but am unsure, I don't know if that may be the cause of my homegroup issues as even when all devices are working fine the homegroup is still inaccessible. As well I apologize for posting this in the wrong forum but my browser is not currently allowing my to view or select any specific forum if I choose a different forum category from the default one. Just one of those bad luck days it would seem here today.
