Continually sync Outlook 2007 w Win 8 phone

I have a Win 7 pc with MS Office 2007.  I just purchased a Windows 8 phone.  There is no exchange server.

I want to be able to continually update the e mail, contacts, calendar, and notes that are in Outlook with the same categories in Win 8 phone as well as update the e mail, contacts, calendar, and notes that are in Win 8 phone w Outlook.  This is not the one time only export and import technique that brings over contacts or calendar info into a device that has nothing in it (like new phone being fed contacts and calendar initially).

With Win phone w 6.5 o.s. and a usb cable you could update the devices with a simple sync and updates went back and forth basically automatically.  In the mid 1990s I did this with a Palm device.  What I am asking to do is NOT a radically new request.

There has to be some sort of way to do this.  Some (including a Win 8 Microsoft help using their chat service) say you need an outlook.com account and you feed updates from Outlook on pc to Outlook.com and then feed updates from Outlook.com to the phone.  However this means all new entries MUST be put in Outlook and fed over to the Win phone - very impractical if you are in the field and want to edit calendar or contacts there and then update back to Outlook.

I am looking for a bidirectional update method.  Ideally, I would like the devices (Outlook on pc, Win 8 phone) to update each other; don't mind if it goes through some middle point in cloud like Outlook.com; can live with a manually initiated update but needs to be bidirectional.

Nokia and Verizon, my phone maker and cell service, seem to believe I am asking for some sort of technically unavailable, extremely advanced, very sophisticated operation; it is a mere replication of databases just like my Palm did nearly 20 years ago.

Surely there has to be a way to do this but I do not seem able to find it.

Can anyone suggest how to do this?
