Hi,
I have a user who has Outlook 2007 SP3 on a Windows XP SP3 machine. The user has many emails that are marked for deletion in his Inbox going back sometime. The emails have a line through them to show they are marked for deletion. He wants to delete some of the newer emails that are marked for deletion but does not want to delete some of his older emails that are marked for deletion - so he does not want to use the "Purge Marked Items in Inbox" option.
One option the user is not willing to do is go through his entire Inbox and "unmark" any email that he does not want deleted from being marked for deletion. If he did this he could then click on "Purge Marked Items in Inbox". The user is unwilling to do this because he has many emails marked for deletion that he eventually wants to go through but does not have the time now.
I tried the following to help him:
I highlighted a group of some of the emails that are marked for deletion in the Inbox, right-clicked and chose "move to folder". I then moved them to his "trash" folder. Unfortunately, it actually copies them to his "trash" folder so that there is one copy in his "trash" folder and one copy in his Inbox. I then went into the "trash" folder and clicked "Edit" -> "Purge" -> "Purge Marked Items in "trash"", it will delete these emails from the "trash" folder but the original copies of them will still remain in his Inbox.
I again highlighted a group of some of the emails that are marked for deletion in the Inbox, right-clicked and chose "move to folder". I then moved them to his "trash" folder. Again, a copy of each email remains in his Inbox. I then deleted the "trash" folder, along with its contents. A copy of each of these emails marked for deletion still remains in the Inbox.
1) Is there anyway that this user can only delete some of the emails he has marked for deletion in his Inbox?
2) Is there anyway I can move emails from the Inbox to a folder without it leaving a copy of the original email in the Inbox. Basically, like doing a cut and paste instead of a copy and paste? If I could do this, I would then be able to purge all of the items in the folder and there would not be an original copy left in the Inbox either.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
