Hello,
On a shared network drive we have several Word files created in 2010. All of the files on the shared drive are open up in Protected View and I have to Enable Editing each time. For some reason some of my co-workers don't need to do this and others do.
I have already went to the settings to uncheck the 3 settings for Enable Protected View .... However, these settings are greyed out and I am unable to check or uncheck anything.
I found several blogs where it said to edit the registry keys. I am supposed to go here
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Security\ProtectedView and then put a value of 1 for DisableAttachementsInPV, DisableInternetFilesInPV, and DisableUnsafeLocationsInPV.
The issue is, when I drill down in the registry there is no ProtectedView folder under Security. I did try to create the folder and the 3 strings, but that doesn't seem to do anything either.
Does someone know how to get these files to open normally and not in Protected View, or how to get it so the settings fields are not greyed out?
Also, we all have the same permissions with these files, the server itself, and this directory, so it has nothing to do with permissions like that. I have already tried to do a repair on Microsoft itself, through the Control Panel, that didn’t solve it either. I am running Windows 7 Office Pro 2010.
Thanks in advance for any help someone can offer,
Chris
