It all started when I realized that none of the emails that I sent in the past 7 days reached their recipients.
After some investigation I’ve realized that “My outgoing server SMTP requires authentication” setting is turned off. My mail server requires SMTP authentication for outgoing email. So after I configured outgoing authentication settings the problem disappeared.
BUG: Outlook didn’t complain about problems with outgoing mail at all. When I clicked the Send button it would appear that Outlook is sending my email and then it was moved to the Sent folder. So it all looked good.
Some technical details:
Mail server: SmarterMail v7.4
Outlook build: 14.0.5130.5000 (64-bit)
Account type: IMAP
I remember that before if the "Outgoing SMTP authentication" setting wasn’t configured properly, Outlook would complain about it and wouldn’t move email to the Sent folder.
I’m wondering if other user could reproduce this issue?
Thanks,
Yury
