I need help validating Outlook client support for retention policies in a Exchange 2010 environment. We are not using archives, but will very soon be deploying a default retention policy (delete after 3 years) plus one personal tag (disabled for perm retention). I know that Outlook 2007 users can't use personal tags to move items to the archive mailbox, and I know that Outlook 2003 and older clients can't access archives. Does the former imply that you can add personal tags to mailbox folders in Outlook 2007 and have it work correctly?
Are there any other gotcha's I need to be aware of using Outlook 2003 or 2007 with the aforementioned policy? Will these older clients display the retention policy in use and/or the expiration date on items? In which cases will they need to use OWA instead?
