At the office we have some machines running XP Pro, and some Windows 7 Pro. Some users have Outlook 2003, others have 2007 and a few have 2010. (None are exchange server accounts)
Recently, on some machines (in varied geographical locations), users are prompted to enter a data file password when attempting to open their Outlook. This is a new event. Outlook was not set up to ask for a data file password. Until today, this didn't exist. A couple of users entered their network login password. Outlook opens but it is like its being opened for the first time. Completely empty. The only pst file I can locate is the one Outlook just created, the original pst has vanished.
We've run virus scans, have had ISP support techs remote access these machines looking for viruses, and the missing pst files. We've found nothing. I have researched this to the point of utter frustration and confusion.
Does anyone have any suggestions what I can do with this? Where I might look for a solution or a missing pst file? Thank you for taking time to consider my question, although now you are probably in the same state of perplexity as I. My apologies if that is indeed the case.
