as of late I have been getting complaints from users that emails are disappearing from their inbox. For example they browse through their sent folder for an email & cant find it. Or an email they have had in their inbox for month's on
end & suddenly it disappears. Now I'm quite sure of couple are just typical end-user(s) lack of product knowledge, but when it's more than 3? Were running exchange 2003 on a windows server 2003 std and the Dc's are windows server 2008 R2

Microsoft Exchange’s Best Practice Analyzer:
Health Check/Permission Check/Connectivity Test
- Finished & passed all Microsoft’s Exchange Troubleshooting Assistant for:
- RPC failures
- RPC bottle necks
- Hard disk bottle necks
*Verified that from the GPO we are NOT:
- Auto-Archiving
- Applying retention policies that enforces any form of limitation(s) (Which I personally am scared of)
- Online Archiving of Mailbox’s
- Email rules
- Deleted items
- Undelete for both inbox and deleted items.
- Event viewer for all critical & warning messages as they apply to exchange & outlook
- 3rd Party add-ins for Outlook
- 3rd Party applications
- Modify archive settings if enabled. By default auto archive isn’t enabled, but if used this allows users to manage their mailbox on the email server “by moving older items to another location or hard drive.
- Email recovery from users Outlook client folders: Sent & Deleted
