Outlook 2007 - notes fields show on phone and OWA, but not in Outlook.....

I'm running Outlook2007 on  Win7 Pro (32 bit) connecting to an Office365 account.    I've got info in some contacts'  "notes" fields - I see it on my phone,  I see it when accessing the account in OWA.......don't see it in Outlook.   If I key anything into the notes field while in Outlook and then save the contact,  it completely overwrites the existing text in the notes field (that was visible on phone and OWA).     Any ideas as to what's going on?
