Searching emails

We are using Outlook 2010 and when we search for emails, the searches do not seem to show new items. Since we are using a virtual desktop environment, we are not using cached exchange mode, to save on storage.

I notice if I put cached mode on, it works fine....but again, in a virtual environment, we do not want to use cached exchange mode.

Is there an alternative???
