MS Exchange mail account setup failure in Outlook 2013 Pro on Windows 10

Hi, I am using "MS Office Professional Plus 2013 Version: 15.0.4569.1506" on "Windows 10 Professional" and trying to set up an exchange mail account.

1. When i set up all the data it is ok & verified by the server. Also; I am using same account in other computers & mobile without any issues.

2. I start the outlook app, getting startup screen with:

"Preparing outlook for first use (5%)

Retrieving mailbox Settings"

3. In some time it advances to 30% 

4. than i get following error: "Operation Failed"

5. Whenever i try starting outlook i get the same error immediately. "Operation Failed"

6. When i add new profile and repeat the same, error is coming again.

There is no detail / log / etc availed readily in the error message. I searched for many hours could not find anything like this.

Outlook changes read email Header to a totally different font

How do you get Outlook to not have email header change to a totally different font after message is read.

Hi,

Please be informed that the Font changed automatically when reply or forward in Outlook 2010. when we are composing or reply, the fonts came as different size. We have already followed the steps to set the stationery but seems the same.

Kindly provide the solution ASAP. It's urgent to resolve.

Outlook 365 exchange Sync issues folder location

My Sync issues folder location is now a sub folder in Sent items folder. I need to move it to the main folder where it should be as Outlook connection to Dynamics 365 does not work.

On our other exchange users the folder is in the correct position and connection works. 

I have recreated my profile.  I have been in touch with Dynamics 365 and Outlook support for months.

Any ideas?

We recently have had a few users complain that emails sent to them do not appear in the mailbox for minutes at a time. I did a message track on a few of the message to see if there was some delay in the transport but latency from database to database was less that 1.5 seconds. We have a few addins in our environment but I don't don't if they are causing an issue. Non are new and the problem seemed to have just started. I have enabled logging in Outlook but I'm not sure what to look for in the logs. How can I troubleshoot this issue?  We are on Exchange 2013 CU19 and Outlook 2010/2016 cached mode.

Hi,

I am the System Admin in this company. Our Accounts Dept received an email regarding an invoice of $500,000 last week pretending to be from our supplier (person- Richard). As email was asking to change bank details before the payment is made, Account Manager was suspicious about it. When I checked the header of the email she received;

I found out;

1. Authentication-Results: spf=fail

2. Sender IP address is located in Singapore but our supplier is located in <g class="gr_ gr_32 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="32" id="32">UK</g>. 

3. <g class="gr_ gr_31 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins doubleReplace replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="31" id="31">Letter</g> 'i' of the domain name has been replaced with 'L'. So it looks similar. eg: Fisher and <g class="gr_ gr_29 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del" data-gr-id="29" id="29">FIsher</g>. 

4. smtp.mailfrom=cinq-etoiles.com - this email has nothing to do with our supplier domain. this website goes to a dodgy site claimed to be from Dubai.


Our supplier's IT dept advised that Richard's emails have not been compromised or hacked. but check our end for issues of Accounts manager's mailbox.

Richard also confirmed the phishing email received by Account Manager has the actual words he wrote in his original email. So his email has got intercepted somewhere?  


We use Office 365 and Outlook 2016 installed on Windows 10 Pro. 

How do I make sure our end if safe and prevent this from repeating in the future? 






Outlook 2016 from field change shared mailbox

Dear Support!

  Our Company uses Exchange 2016 On-Premise with Outlook 2016 Home and Business clients.

We have a lot of shared mailboxes, users have 2 Exchange mailboxes on their Outlooks profiles: Own Mailbox and Shared Mailbox with Full Access and same user authenticaion. With these settings we are able to use different Signatures for each mailbox, different Rules, etc.

But, if user clicks on Shared mailbox INBOX and want comply a new e-mail the from field doesnt change to shared e-mail address.

With old mail server with IMAP mailboxes it worked like a charm, now with Exchange mailboxes it doesnt change. It seems like an Outlook BUG: Exchange type mailboxes doesnt control "From field", but it works with IMAP type mailboxes.

Few years ago we used Outlook 2003 with Exahange type mailboxes without problem.

Problems with PDFs attachments with IMAP account in Outlook.

Hello

When I try to open some PDF attachments received via IMAP in Outlook 2013, it does not open (Adobe Reader) or its contents (other pdf readers) are not displayed correctly.
When I connect to webmail and download these same attachments PDFs via browser, they all work.
Something in IMAP synchronization between the server and Outlook is corrupting these files.

I have already tried to remove the antivirus and try to create another profile in Outlook but the errors continue.

Any idea what I can do?

Shared Calendar - outlook 2016 - Office 365 Pro plus

Hello

We do have office 365 Pro Licence to all the users. In outlook 2010, when we right click on the calendar and hit share, it pop up the email to share with the people internally and shoots a email. In office 2016, when we perform the same function, it doesn't have share option, it has sharing permissions which pops up the box and we can add staff with whatever permissions but it won't send any notification email to the person saying a calendar has been shared with your with that permissions. 

I also performed this by hitting shared calendar in Home Ribbon, and it drop down with my calendar and same dialog box opens but no notification to any of the person added. The issue is how the other person knows the calendar has been shared to them? Yes they can add it from GAL but email notification?

User unable to open calendar items

Suddenly a user is unable to open an existing item or to create a new item in his outlook calendar. Double clicking shoud open an pane but nothinh happen there. The user is able to plan en new item by choosing "New Appointment" but not by doubleclicking.

Already tried to start Outlook (2013) in safe mode. Deactivated add-ons. When the calendar is shared other users are able to modify or create items doubleclicking. 

Possibly it's a user-profile issue? Any way to easy test this or to reset the mail profile? Can i isolate it from the user profile?  

 

Error(The Operation Failed)while opening .ics file in Outlook 2016

Hi Team, 

I have a .ics file which has RRULE to create events which occur on every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. This .ics when opened in Gmail calendar works perfectly and events are created for the respective dates. However when opened in Outlook 2016 getting error Operation Failed. I tried RRULE for weekly and it works in outlook. I tried parsing this RRULE using http://worthfreeman.com/projects/online-icalendar-recurrence-event-parser/ and it gave the following dates which are correct.

Importing .OST files into Outlook and converting them into .PST files

I have several former employees outlook files, and need to view them, when they were copied from the former-employees computer the format of the Outlook file was .ost which I can't import into Outlook (as I don't know how to). Is there a way to import .ost files into Outlook? And finally how would I convert them, as I believe you can do this through the Archive option within Outlook.

Outlook crashes when opening the "Out of office rules"

Hello All and good day!

I got this problem

When I click this "rules" button, the whole outlook automatically crash.
Already did rebooting the unit, reinstalling the MS office, installed the updates, make sure the unit is connected to the network, but problem still persist.

Office Version : 2016
OS : Windows 7 service pack 1 64 bit
RAM : 16 gb
Processor : Intel  Core i7

I am finding a solution to import .pst files in Mac mail.

In other and simpler words, I am tryng to transfer emails from ms outlook 2007 that supports .pst files to mac mail of mac operating system.

Also it will very helpful if I can get solution for transferring contacts and calender work along with the above asked question.

Unable to set Out of Office in Outlook with this error "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later."

I have been trying to troubleshoot this issue, and it is very inconsistent. I have users who cannot set the Out of Office message in Outlook receiving this error "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable.  Try again later.". These same users are able to open Outlook on a different machine and successfully set their Out of Office message. I have seen the issue in both Outlook 2013 and 2016 (we don't have older versions in our environment). Also, different users using the same machine are able to set their OoO message successfully using Outlook.

I have tried the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration and verified the EWS url (https://mail.domain.com/ews/exchange.asmx) and OOF url (https://mail.domain.com/ews/exchange.asmx). I also see this on the log tab: 'Autodiscover to https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml Succeeded (0x00000000)'

Based on the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration settings and the fact that other users are able to set their Out of Office message through Outlook I believe the server settings are correct.

In an effort to fix the issue for a test user, I tried these potential solutions which have all failed to resolve the issue:

1) Repaired the Office 2013 installation

2) Deleted the OST and let autodiscover setup the Outlook profile

3) Cleared out the stored credentials from Windows
    Control Panel > User Accounts > Manage your credentials > Select Outlook under Generic Credentials > Remove from vault
    Control Panel > User Accounts > Manage your credentials > Windows Credentials > selected (exchange server) > Remove from vault

4) Uninstalled Office from the computer. Restarted the machine. Deleted the following directories:
    C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
    C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office
    C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook
    C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office
    C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Local\Temp\outlook logging
Removed all profiles from Control Panel -> Mail -> Show Profiles
Removed any unecessary user profiles from C:\Users
Installed Office 2013
Launched Outlook and let autodiscover setup the Outlook profile

5) Switched from cached mode to online mode

6) Enabled extra logging in Outlook and tried to gather any new error messages. Compared the logs of a user with the issue to a user without the issue and there was nothing obviously different between them. I should have a log file at C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Local\Temp\OlkAS\date-time-oof.log and also date-time-AS.log. I do not have either log after enabling the logging in Outlook. This is true for both a user who cannot set their Out of Office and a user who can set the OoO message.

I am looking for additional steps to try. Thank you for looking into this.
