Outlook 365 2016 Trusted Platform Module error code 80090016

I have quite a few machines where after launching Outlook and trying to authenticate, they get a "something went wrong" error that Trusted Platform Module has malfunctioned, error code 80090016.  The server message is "Keyset does not exist Keyset does not exist".

If different users log in on the same computers, their Outlooks functions properly.  So I assume it's something just in those users' profiles, but I'd prefer not to delete the users' profiles if there is a fix that could be done to each instead.  Anyone know how to fix this without completely deleting the user profile off the machine?

Here's the output of dsregcmd /status from a profile with the TPM error

Outlook 2016 - Deleted emails don't go to Deleted Items folder. (IMAP)

See attached picture.  Follow the numbers. With the top box of #5checked, email gets deleted from the INBOX, but it does not go to the Deleted Items folder. They seem to just disappear, both in outlook and on our Smartermail server.

When youuncheck #5 top box, email that you delete DOES go to the deleted mail folder, but it willnot leave the inbox (which is a FAR more annoying “feature”)

This has happened on multiple computers. I ass-u-me this is a known issue, but I do not see any solutions other than reverting to Outlook 2013.

Anyone? Thanks! MB

Gmail Sent Emails Not POP'ing to Outlook 2016

I see this is an issue elsewhere and cannot believe there's no solution to an obvious problem.

Previous versions of Outlook worked fine, but 2016 has two serious flaws.

First is this, and second is that I cannot control the scroll in the message list view.  It's not to do with the list size as other applications are fine with massive lists, and it still messes up when the list is sub 100 in any case.

Come on Microsoft, get a grip, this is atrocious ... as is your Support on these matters.

Hi,

I am trying to send a link to share photo's in One Drive. I am sending to a single email address and it is correct.

As a test I tried to send the picture link to my email address - and  One Drive came back with the same message.

Any suggestions as to how to fix gratefully received.

Outlook/Exchange Headers Only Confusion

Hi. Quite confused about this really. I have 3 mailboxes (each added manually) and want the main one to download full items, but the other two to download headers only. Ticking "download headers" under "download preferences" applies headers only to all mailboxes, and shows "connected to Microsoft Exchange(headers)" in the bottom right hand corner - however, this is not what I want. I have looked at and tested "send/receive groups", and specified manually the headers only on individual folders, but this seems to do absolutely nothing ...the "connected to Microsoft Exchange(headers)" does not appear for the folders I have set.

How do I get this to work? Which setting takes precedence? The send/recieve group talks about frequency etc, but Exchange just receives email immediately. Obviously I have 'ticked' "include the selected account in this group" for the "all accounts" group.

Anyway, I'm running Office 365/Exchange Outlook 2016. Searched/read all over internet and still confused.

Many thanks,
Doug.

Outlook Contacts field "Keywords"

When exporting Outlook Contacts (Outlook 2013) information to Excel, the resulting Excel sheet contains the column "Keywords" (in Dutch version column name is "Trefwoorden"). The data in this column can be modified in Excel and succesfully imported back in Outlook Contacts again.

How can the data in the standard field "Keywords" be displayed or edited using Outlook Contacts user-interface?

Searching in All-Fields the field "Keywords" is not available.

Outlook security alert

Hi,

Our SSL certificate is expired today, but we renewed it two days ago.

Today, Outlook pops up a security warning for all user saying "The security certificate has expired or is not yet valid." I clicked the "View Certificate" button, it shows the old certificate.

I checked the local computer certificate store and found the old certificate is in the trusted store, I removed it, but it didn't help. Outlook still remembered the old certificate.

OWA is fine and the certificate is updated.

Need help!

Thanks in advance!

Outlook profile cross-platform for POP configurations ...

$

I have both Outlook for mac (2016) and Outlook for Windows (2019) on a dual-boot (bootcamp) configuration.

Primarily use Outlook for mac to download and save my emails (just email) with my email provider setup for POP as well as the same account setup in Outlook for mac. I basically have it download my inbox and sent items and then the email provider copy winds up in the trash after download is complete.

I like this setup, and prefer it over IMAP.

My question:  is it possible to put my entire outlook profile folder on a shared partition (such as an exfat), and also use outlook in windows to read/manage my emails from the same profile that outlook for mac uses ?

In this case, both windows-based and mac-based outlooks would be setup to point to the single instance of the profile which would reside on an exfat partition. And there would be NO simultaneous access to the profile (either windows is using it, or macOS is using it, but never both at the same time).

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Unable to attach files in outlook

Hi,

I'm facing huge difficulty in attaching the files directly in outlook on windows 10. I want to attach files directly when they are open on my screen like you get an option "attach to email" in a PDF, excel or word.

This was possible in outlook 2007 version.

Thanks,

Syed Saif.

Conference Room: No Information Available

Good Morning!

I am new here. I am looking for help with a specific conference room not showing free/busy information to multiple users. I have done some web searching and nothing seems to hit the mark.

* The troubling conference room is the only faulty 1 of 8

* At the time of this post, affected user count is 4 out of 150+

* Users affected have been tested on Office 365 as well as Office 2016

* Users affected have been tested on multiple devices

* So far, all affected users are within one security group

* Some Users within the common security group are able to view free busy for it

* Troubling conference room has been configured to auto-accept meeting requests

At this point, it seems pretty easy to take the next step of terminating the conference room and recreating it and importing the calendar back into the conference room.

Has anyone experienced symptoms such as these together?

Outlook Oauth Support.

Currently have Outlook 2016.

Got an email from ATT:

We’re enhancing the security of AT&T Mail. Soon you’ll have to use either OAuth or a secure mail key to get your email through an app. States Outlook 2010, 2013, 2016 are non-oAuth compatible email apps and Windows Mail is oAuth.

Does Office 2019 and 365 have OAuth support? If not how is OAuth being handled?

Outlook 2016 not showing NS delegated domains correctly as 'From'

$

So here's the problem. I work on an invoicing software package that sends mails in name of their customers. Customers need to set up their DNS to include a NS record, which delegates a subdomain to us. This allows us to control SPF/DKIM keys, so our customers don't need to be too techsavvy to get this going. Furthermore it allows us to send mails with correct keys in name of our customers, so the mails do not come in spamboxes.

So a large overview of the flow would be:

"Customer Domain" <---- Subdomain delegated to ----> "Invoicing Mailing Software" <---- Sending mail to ----> "Customer of our customer with 'from:' set to our customer's domain"

This works great; thousands of mails are send in name of our customer from our mailing provider. There is a problem however when a customer of our customer is using Outlook 2016: the subdomain is shown, instead of the customer domain as the 'from'. It seems that Outlook 2016 is using the wrong header to determine it's from field, namely the 'sender' email header, instead of the 'from' email header. Surprisingly enough, the webclient of Outlook is NOT affected by this and correctly shows the value of the from header in the from field in the interface, instead of the sender header in the from field, what the Desktop client is doing.

The headers that are send with the mail are as following (changed the domains for privacy reasons):

From: "Testdomain" info at testdomain dot com Reply-To: "Testdomain" info at testdomain dot come Return-Path: info at 123847thgashfjhjykf-invoicingcompany dot testdomain dot com Sender: info at 123847thgashfjhjykf-invoicingcompany dot testdomain dot com

TL;DR:

Outlook is showing "info at 123847thgashfjhjykf-invoicingcompany dot testdomain dot com" in the from field, instead of "info at testdomain dot com".

We contacted Microsoft through phone and mail previously, and they seem to insist on changing our SMTP servers, but that is not the problem, since we can replicate this issue, by just importing an EML with these headers and the problem persists. It does not matter which mailprovider the receiver is using, it happens on all of them; POP3/IMAP/Exchange, it all doesn't matter. That's why we highly suspect that Outlook 2016 has a bug in which header it should use for the from field.

Maybe other outlook versions are affected as well, but that is not known at the moment.

Please help so that the correct domain is shown in Outlook 2016.

I have a user who at random will get "Your organization's policies are preventing us from completing this action for you. For more info, please contact your help desk." All self help I have found pertains to clicking links while in Outlook, but he states that it will randomly pop up while he is working. We have deleted and recreated his user and email profile and he still has the issue. Does anyone have a fix for this issue?

Outlook 365 ProPlus

Question: Can someone confirm if this is true?

"When selecting a large number of emails and then drags them to a folder in Outlook, get "Creating a new item from the selected items could take some time. Are you sure you want to create a new item from theseXX items?" (xx represent number of items. In our case 30).

But when select a smaller number of emails and drag into a folder, it works with no warning message.

Is this because there is a size limit in the large emails that trying to drag into a folder? Is this because there could be Calendar items in the mix? I think 30 items is still low but could it be the size? Or what exactly is causing this? Thanks in advance!

How to create color categories for a shared calendar in Outlook 2016?

$

Hi,

We have several users who have access to a shared calendar. One of the users wants to create custom color categories for that shared calendar so the other users can see them. She has permission as an "owner" for that shared calendar. However, when she creates the color categories in her Outlook, the other users cannot see the custom color categories she created. Is there a correct way of doing this? All of the users are using Outlook 2016 with Windows 10 PCs. We are using Exchange 2016.

Thanks!

Mac Outlook (version 16.30) switches to Work Offline

$

We have a few users who use Mac Outlook to access our Office 365 tenant. They report that Mac Outlook will switch to "Work Offline" mode without their knowledge. They'll stop getting new emails, and any sent email will be stuck in the Outbox. Eventually they will notice that there's a problem and will try to resolve it by toggling the "Work Offline" button. Sometimes that fixes the issue. Some users report that they get errors that synching has failed. Sometimes restarting Outlook can temporarily fix the problem.

These users don't report other issues with other connected applications such as Skype for Business. They seem to work without issue.

Does anybody have any insight on what could cause these problems with Outlook? Is it more likely an Outlook application problem or an Office 365 infrastructure problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.
