How do you strip RTF encoding from text?

I use Outlook 2013 Tasks to keep track of daily activities. I want to be able to change the format of ALL Outlook Tasks to only use plain text format (not RTF or HTML) without changing the mail format to plain text. I have scoured the Internet looking for a solution to convert RTF text to Plain Text but have not found a valid easy to use solution. Currently I paste the text from an Outlook Task into WordPad and then save as plain text with MS-DOS encoding to strip all RTF encoding... but this process is a hassle as I have many Tasks throughout the day. I have tried utilities such as 'Pure Text', while they strip attributes and HTML formatting fine they do not strip RTF from text. Used to be just pasting text into Notepad would strip the RTF encoding, but no more. Here is what I am looking for:

1) A way to change only tasks in Outlook 2013 to display in plain text, not RTF or HTML, without affecting mail/message format

or

2) A script to add into Outlook 2013 to convert RTF text to Plain text easily

Appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you.
