Using desktop search from the Start menu / orb, I get a listing for two groups of results: Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Outlook. The number found (in brackets), and the first 3 or so items, are identical. My system is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit; it once had Office 2003, since removed and Office 2010 installed.
Obviously, the duplication is an artefact of having the two versions of Office registering with the Indexing Service in some way. I don't want to try to hack the registry, because there should be a better way to remedy this. It is NOT via the Indexing Options Control Panel applet, as far as I can determine.
Using Windows key + F will of course bring up an explorer-like search window, but that doesn't have the duplication. Besides, I like to use the more immediate search at the start menu.
Any ideas?
