Outlook hangs when forwarding an email with an image file attached

$

0

I have a large number of Outlook 2016 clients that are seeing an issue where when they click the forward button on a email that has an image file attached (jpg, png) the Outlook client hangs/locks up completely for about 3 seconds.

I ran Process Monitor to see what it is doing in those 3 seconds and the last thing that is displayed before the 3 second gap is the OST file for that user.  I wiped out the OST file, allowed it to rebuild and the hang is gone.  The next day it was happening again.

The size of the image file doesn't appear to make any difference.  Other file types arn't affected though.  PDFs for example work fine.

Any ideas?

After Office 365 update to Office 2019, Outlook prompts for password

Hi,

Hopefully someone can help with this one.

After an update form O365, Outlook keeps on prompting for a password after a restart. The OS is Windows 10 1809 and is connecting to on premise Exchange 2013. The user only has apps from Office 365

I suspected that Outlook was trying to connect to Office 365 instead of the on premise Exchange. I followed advice to change the registry to disable Outlook going to Office 365 first:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover]
"ExcludeExplicitO365Endpoint"=dword:00000001

This change has not worked

I have tried removing Outlook credentials from Credential manager but still the problem persists.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

email reset issue

I have a constant problem with all my Outlook mailboxes. I need to click all around my different mailboxes to get my messages to reappear. They disappear from view but still list as 232 items (or whatever the count is) in the bottom left message count. It's so frustrating. I'm getting ready to remove Outlook from my system completely. I'm at a total loss. This is interfering with my ability to do business.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Michelle

Outlook 2016 Cannot view Inbox items.

We have a user who was recently upgraded from Win 7/Outlook 2010 to Win 10/Outlook 2016. After logging in to the new Win 10 machine, he opens Outlook and a profile is auto created. When he clicks on the Inbox, there is no email showing. It says 'We didn't find anything to show here". The status bar indicates that there is unread email. You can search for, and find, email in the Inbox. That would indicate that there is something wrong with the view. Here is what we did to troubleshoot.

  • Reset view under the view tab
  • Applied view from a folder that was displaying emails correctly to all folders (This temporarily worked until we clicked another folder and then went back to Inbox)
  • Created a new mail profile
  • Logged into a completely different Windows 10 machine
  • Ran Outlook /cleanviews
  • Moved the mailbox to a different Exchange 2010 database
  • Ran new-mailboxrepairrequest on the mailbox with the options SearchFolder,AggregateCounts,ProvisionedFolder,FolderView
  • Checked that the problem doesn't exist in Outlook 2010 or Outlook Web Access. (It doesn't)

Does anyone have any ideas or anything else I can check?

Office 2016 Attach Recent Files Issue

We are testing the use of Office 2016 and when using the attach recent file list, if a file that is stored on our on premise sharepoint team site is attached, outlook sends the following error message:

    From: Microsoft Outlook [mailto:MicrosoftExchange329e71ec88ae4615bbc36ab6ce41109e@LyondellBasell.onmicrosoft.com]
    Sent: Wednesday, October 19, 2016 1:12 PM
    To: Harrington, Karen E <Karen.Harrington@lyondellbasell.com>
Subject: Your recipients couldn't be given access to the file AAATest-Karen_Audit_Log_2015-08-31T070001.xlsx

The location where the file is stored isn't available.

The message was sent, but recipients might not be able to access the attachment.

Try opening the fileAAATest-Karen_Audit_Log_2015-08-31T070001.xlsx and giving others access to it from itscurrent location.

The user that the file was sent to does have access to the file already.

Is this a Outlook 2016 setting or a setting that we need to make in our on prem SharePoint 2013 environment?

Outlook 2016 crashes when opening certain emails with signatures

One of our user's accounts (Dennis) has a problem when opening emails from a certain sender. The sender is sending an email with a signature that includes images of our corporate logo. These are in the .png format and between 5 to 15k in size. When the user (Dennis) tries to open the email, Outlook crashes and a message pops up saying that Outlook is restarting. There are no problems when other users open the same email.

I checked the build version and ran the updates and the problem persists. Any thoughts?

Outlook Error: Your mailbox has reached its maximum size limit

    $

    0

I have been researching this error for several days now and I see that it comes up a lot with Outlook.com users but my scenario is different.  I have one user only out of 25 total getting this error in Outlook (Home & Business 2016 installation) when connecting to our Exchange Server 2013 Standard Version 15.0 (Build 847.32) - this is the on-premises version NOT online.  The computer getting the error is not joined to our domain as they are an off-site user. The full error is as follows:

Your mailbox has reached its maximum size limit at which you cannot send or receive any more content.  Empty your deleted items folder from Outlook or delete messages from your mailbox to create more space.

    File: \outlook\pstprx\storeas\utils\airsyncstatuscodes.h
    Line: 104
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    MailStatus: 115
    To re-try press F9...
        0x80004005

The user can actually send and receive just fine as I've had them send several test messages which were successfully sent and received. However, the error keeps coming up with annoying frequency when the user has Outlook open. Deleting messages and emptying Deleted Items as the error suggests had no effect.  I know that the OST file is well under any limits as I've checked both the actual file size on the computer and the size reported by Exchange Management Shell.

    DisplayName     TotalItemSize                                      ItemCount
    -----------            -------------                                           ---------
    L                        238.6 MB (250,143,914 bytes)           535

Most of the other users that have mailboxes on the Exchange server are using Outlook from Office 2013 to connect and I'm starting to wonder if this issue is due to this user being on Office 2016 version.  When the user logs in with OWA there are no error messages.

Other things I've tried that have not solved the problem:

    - Increasing the default mailbox size in Exchange from 2 GB to 100 GB

    - Move user's mail to a PST file and deleting the account, deleting the OST and re-creating the account

    - Restart mail server

Afaik the user does not send large amounts of bulk messages but does sent out sales-related e-mails that have brochures attached, I noticed about 4 of these that were stuck in the Outgoing folder.  The attachment was about 8 MB in size. I deleted these but it had no effect on the frequency of the error message appearing.

The way the error is worded would make one believe it is a problem with that user's mailbox size but clearly that is not the issue.  Can anyone give any insight or suggest where I should troubleshoot next on either the Exchange Server or on the user's computer?

    checked the registry key for

ome times the Outlook is taking the information from another application for ex:Cisco Jabber , to resolve this issue you need to go to regedit and track the below path:

HKCU/Software/IM Providers -->DefaultIMApp --> Change the Value to Lync.

    * then close the Outlook and re-open it again.

this was already set to Lync

Also checked the option in outlook under people to show status that is already checked.

i am out of options on this one not sure what occured.. tried to also unistall jabber that didnt work either.

Office Group Inbox - Remove Conversation View

    Hi,

Please move this if it is in the wrong forum, I couldn't find one that seemed relevant.

We use a few Office 365 Groups, as part of that we are using the inboxes for people to send emails in (internally and externally).  My users have asked if we can turn off conversation view on the email threads, but I cant seem to find an option like you can in your personal inbox.  I did some googling and no such luck.  The problem is if they send out an email, the replies can get lost when there are many.

    Office 365 Pro Plus

    Exchange Online

As a secondary, I take it you still cant create subfolders in an Office 365 Group inbox?

Does somebody have an idea about the interface id bellow ?

I have received a powerpoint ppt file and I cannot open it on my end.
The activeX inside needs to point to an interface with the IID:
    Hide Copy Code
    {E19C7100-9709-4DB7-9373-E7B518B47086}
but I do not find the interface related to it. Is it the IM application integration in Office ?
If so how can I get rid of that interface call to continue the ppt loading properly ?

Thank you very much in advance
    Best regards.
    MiQi

    What I have tried:

    Apparently related to
    Hide Copy Code
    IM application integration in Office
but never heard about that before and how to avoid the loading to cancel on it.

I am using the Office 365. There is no possibility to display and review advanced settings of already mapped email accounts. Such screen used to be available in previous Outlook versions and is a must for me in order to copy the settings to another laptop. Please suggest how to display the advanced setting of the mapped email accounts. Thank you.

Outlook 2019 64 Bit On-Premises Crashes When Clicking "Business" to Define an Address for a Contact

    Hi all,

I installed Office 2019 64 bit Professional Plus On-Premises on my Windows 10 Pro Laptop, after removing my previous 2016 Professional Plus.

Whenever I go into an Outlook Contact (regardless if the email is a Pop, IMAP or Exchange account), and press the "Business" button to define the contact's business address, Outlook 2019 crashes. I can enter the address directly in the textbox next to the button, but cannot press the button (to get the popup dialog) without crashing.

I tried opening Outlook in safe mode - no joy.

I did an Office 2019 repair - still no joy.

How to change mail server hostname in Windows App version of Outlook 2016

    $
    0
    0
Most of you know by now that Microsoft removed most of the email account settings from Outlook's mail account configuration this fall.  MS has a KB article

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3189194/how-to-disable-simplified-account-creation-in-outlook that explains how to get the old interface to appear so one can actually change settings.

However we have at least one client who apparently installed the Windows App version of Office, and it does not have the Office registry settings (and the above doesn't work when entered into the registry).  Further there is no Mail icon in Control panel and although I found the MLCFG32.CPL icon under the WindowsApps directory, double clicking it or trying to open via RunDLL does nothing...nothing appears.

Any suggestions other than uninstalling Office and reinstalling using the CTR version and then putting in this registry fix JUST to change the mail server name?  Deleting and recreating the email account seems easier, however, I have no idea whether or even how it will autodetect the correct mail server hostname since it is not the same as the domain name.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Duplicate message when sent from Gmail aliased Outlook account

Starting around August 2018, my Outlook account (custom domain through office 365) started spamming duplicate messages whenever I send to distribution groups created under the same custom domain.

The issue occurs when using the "send mail as" feature from gmail. Messages are not duplicated when sent to individual email address, and are also not duplicated if sent to distribution lists outside of the custom domain.

After posting the problem on the gmail forums, gmail experts suggested posting this on the outlook forums instead.

    Hi all.

Sorry my bad english im from Denmark. Im working at a IT company but this i simply cant figure out.

I asked on the google forum but no help there. I also tryed 2 outher forums so i really hope you can help.

My wife's father got a new pc. Windows 10 with office 2016.

He uses Gmail and using IMAP to outlook.

I has been working for about 1-2 months.

He uses 2-step verfication in gmail so i use app passwords.

One day he called me and told me that Outlook asks for password but he has tryed with he "normal" password with no luck.

Okay then i just tryed with a new app password from Gmail but it keeps asking for new password.

I have been google like hell and i think it is Gmail blocking hes Outlook. Becourse when i use

    https://accounts.google.com/b/0/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

Then it works. But after a reboot it asks for password again! Grrrr.

    I tryed

    1: Reinstall Office

2: Clear all password i windows 10 (in control panel)

    3: Turning off 2-step verfication

4: Turn on 2-step verification and rewoke all app passwords and know devices and then signing out of gmail and in again (And turn on "dont ask on this device again)

5: Clear all mailboxes and profiles.

6: Use outher settings for the outgoing server (Outher port and DTLS i think)

The only thing i havent tryed is to turn off 2-step verification and then change heis password.

    Please help!

    Regards Daniel and thanks
