Outlook 365 keeps asking for Microsoft account information when I start Outlook (outlook anywhere)

Hi all

I have a client where I set up Outlook Anywhere on an Exchange Server 2016. It works fine with Outlook 365 except for one problem:

every time I start Outlook it asks me to sign in with a Microsoft account:

I don't want to sign in with a Microsoft account so I click the X. Then Outlook works fine. I know it's a small detail, but It's annoying when you can't remove it completely. Everytime I restart Outlook it pops up again.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? ( I've tried removing all saved credentials found in the control panel, I readded the account, I tried 3 different systems with the same effect on all of them )

Thanks in advance!

Merging outlook 2010 emails and folders

$

I recently had to reinstall windows 7 after chkdks corrupted my registry. At the time I was using WLM. I eventually restored all my data and 12 years of emails from external devices but ended up with many duplicates in some 400+ folders, each has a few hundred emails. I then transferred the messages to outlook 2010 as there are some utilities to delete duplicates. But to achieve this, I need to merge the emails in the 400 storage folders inside 12 pst data files into 1 or 2 folders. I would like to know if there is a way to merge the emails of multiple folders into a single folder? I have tried drag and drop on a couple of folders but that will take forever.

Outlook editor converts all emails to plain text

The latest office 365 update (1906 Build 1172.20210) will no longer render emails in HTML. All are displayed as plain text.  Furthermore, when composing an email in HTML it appears to be fine, but it is actually sent as plain text.  The copy in"sent" is plain text and the recipient receives a plain text email.

This definitely started with the latest office updated (released a few hours ago).  As I have multiple PCs running outlook I tested with the previous update (no problems), ran office update, then tested again (now a problem).  To eliminate any account-specific causes, I tested on another user's PC with a separate (complete unrelated) office 360 account.  Same problem.

Basically it's impossible send formatted emails containing tables, pictures etc. as all emails are converted to plain text.

Outlook 2019 month view calendar jumping up and down

Calendar view is fine for Day, Work Week, Week but not Month.

The calendar jumps up and down every few seconds, about two weeks at a time.  Just as you would see if someone gave a couple of clicks on the up and down scroll bar arrows.

We've tried while on a docking station and undocked, no change.  Sometimes after a couple of minutes of this, Outlook crashes and restarts.  Other times it just keeps going, jumping up and down every couple of seconds.

Outlook error - the file is not an Outlook data file .ost

Hi all,

I've just managed to finally get an Exchange Server up and running. I'd come into this system which had never been working. I've now created a few profiles through Active Directory but am struggling with an error when launching Outlook 2016 - regardless of user.

'Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The File xxx.ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost).'

I've tried removing the profile and starting again to no avail. I've tried creating another mail database on the server to no avail either.

Running Exchange Server 2016 as a Domain Member with two DCs. Any suggestions on this?

Thanks,

Ollie

Once my Outlook.com (web version) is setup, is there a way to go back to theAdd Details page like the one shown from my image during the first time Outlook.com account creation?  I am going to move to a different location and  I need to change my Country/Region.

Is there any way to have this exact Add Details page appear again without creating a new Outlook.com account?

Weird Inbox issue

Exchange 2010 back-end (gearing up to upgrade soon) on a VM

Outlook 2010 and Windows 7 on the user side

We are also using O365 for some email filtering and features, but pretty sure that is not involved with this issue.

Problem is that the inbox stops refreshing the inbox.  Users will delete emails, and the emails really are deleted, but they still show up in the list.  Then when they try deleting again, it gives a few different errors essentially saying that the file is not there.  Also, when this is happening, the new email counter will refresh on the folder, but the new emails are not listed on the main pane.

As a work-around, we have been having users simply click on another folder, and then back on their inbox... but some users take to this advice better than others, and we would like a better solution.  Once the folder is clicked on again, it appears to work fine for another few hours before it happens again.

We do use a lot of add-ins, but even when running in safe mode we have had this happen.  The issue does not seem to be wide-spread... but then again, most users are in and out of several folders and FileSite throughout the day, so their folders are constantly refreshing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

All HTML emails in PST files rendered as HTML after last Office update

The latest office 365 update (1906 Build 1172.20210) will no longer render emails in (in the default PST file) as HTML . All are displayed as plain text.  Furthermore, when composing an email in HTML it appears to be fine, but it is actually sent as plain text.  The copy in the "sent" folder is plain text and the recipient receives a plain text email.

Similarly if I compose a new email as HTML then save as a draft, then double click the draft it now shows as plain text.

This definitely started with the latest office updated (released a day ago).  As I have multiple PCs running outlook (2xwind 10; 1x win 8.1) I tested with the previous version of outlook before the update, (no problems), ran office update, then tested again (now a problem).  To eliminate any account-specific causes, I tested on another user's PC with a separate (complete unrelated) office 360 account.  Same problem.

It only seems to affect the DEFAULT PST file (ie the one that receives new emails from the POP server). We are not using exchange.  As noted above ALL emails (80,000+) are affected -- they all now render as plain text.

Basically it's impossible view or send formatted emails containing tables, pictures etc. as all emails are converted to plain text.

The PST file has NOT been corrupted because if I transfer it to a PC running the previous office build 1905 11629.20246 (ie I haven't yet applied the latest update from yesterday) all HTML emails in the PST file render correctly.

This definitely started with the latest office updated (released a day ago).  As I have multiple PCs running outlook (2xwind 10; 1x win 8.1) I tested with the previous version of outlook before the update, (no problems), ran office update, then tested again (now a problem).  To eliminate any account-specific causes, I tested on another user's PC with a separate (complete unrelated) office 365 account.  Same problem.

We are not using exchange; all emails are held in a PST file.  No settings have changed in outlook and for 20+ years all HTML emails have rendered correctly. As noted above ALL emails (80,000+) are affected -- they all now render as plain text.

Basically it's impossible to view or send formatted emails containing tables, pictures etc. as all emails are converted to plain text.

Outlook 365 2016 Trusted Platform Module error code 80090016

I have quite a few machines where after launching Outlook and trying to authenticate, they get a "something went wrong" error that Trusted Platform Module has malfunctioned, error code 80090016.  The server message is "Keyset does not exist Keyset does not exist".

If different users log in on the same computers, their Outlooks functions properly.  So I assume it's something just in those users' profiles, but I'd prefer not to delete the users' profiles if there is a fix that could be done to each instead.  Anyone know how to fix this without completely deleting the user profile off the machine?

Here's the output of dsregcmd /status from a profile with the TPM error

Outlook 365 Trusted Platform Module error code 80090016

This issue has been raised before but there are no valid solutions offered in previous threads.

My situation is, we are using an AD migration tool to migrate users from one domain to another. Users in the source domain use Outlook with the UPN from their user in the target domain.  Migration tool runs which adds SIDhistory and changes the owner of the workstation profile to the user in the target domain

When the user logs back in with his Ad account from the target domain, his profile is all good other than Outlook.

If the user starts outlook, it asks to do new setup, even though his email account is still there, eventually it gives and error that the ost cannot be accessed, then "something went wrong error"

At this point, I delete the Outlook account, and start setup again, after entering email and password the message Something Went Wrong Error 80090016 TPM failure comes up
Disabling modern auth is not an option

Recreating user profiles is not an option

Unable to view others Calendars in Outlook 2013; getting Error: "No Connection".

Hi,

When i go to Outlook > Calendar > Open Calendar > From Address Book > Then i choose the user of whose Calendar i want to see and it gives me an Error: 'No connection'. Other users in the same Environment are able to view each other's calendars except myself.

I have tried the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Repaired Office 2013.
2. Opened Outlook in safemode but the issue persists.
3. Checked the Options > Use Cached Exchange Mode and Download shared folders.
4. If a User shares a Calendar with me and i accept it then i am able to view others Calendars.
5. When i open Outlook through OWA then i am successfully able to see others Calendars.

Kindly advise accordingly as i need to be able to see other users Calendars through > Open Calendar > From Address Book

Looking forward to a quick resolution of this issue.

Regards,
Vik.

Unable to Explicitly Trust a Certificate

Hi

I am trying to set up S/MIME emails with a third party who have sent instructions on how this has to be carried out.

I have successfully installed a Client Certificate on my PC and I can see this in Outlook Options >Security Settings>

Signing Certificate :         myname

Encryption Certificate:     myname

I have received an email from them with an Exclamation Mark in a Golden Diamond on the email.

I open this up and get to the window Digital Signature is Invalid and in Message Security Properties all lines show RED exclamation mark.

I browse to View Certificate and Select to Explicitly Trust This Certificate and expect the three red Exclamation Marks to turn to GREEN ticks and window that previously said Invalid to change to Valid but this does not happen.

Initially it was thought there was something causing an issue as it passed through the firewall but on investigation this doesn't appear to be the case.

I have now been sent the Certificate in a ZIP file to try and install but this is in .ASC format and I think this may be the problem why it wont accept by clicking on Explicitly Trust This Certificate.

Can anyone assist with this issue so that I can get their certificate imported and working in Outlook 2016

Thanks

John

OST file being Locked by Word and Excel

$

I have ran into a problem with Word and Excel locking the user's OST file if they are opened prior to Outlook.    This is on Windows 10, v1809. Here is what I have tried so far:

Reinstalling Office365

Renaming registry keys to allow the Office registry keys to be recreated.

Disabled all plug-ins

Renamed folder under %appdata% to allow folders to be recreated

Still, Word and Excel will lock the OST file.  Opening Word in safe mode will NOT lock the registry file.

Does anyone have any thoughts/experience with this issue.

Why does Outlook insert extra blank lines in outgoing emails

MS Office Home and Business 2016

I have become aware that people receiving my emails are finding three blank lines between each paragraph. Yet, the same email in my Sent folder looks properly formatted. As always (and as a user of MS Office since the 1990s), I always hit "enter" for a new paragraph. Yet Outlook 2016 appears to be corrupting this, but without any indication that it has done so when I check the copy of the email in my Sent folder.

What is behind this weird behaviour in Outlook 2016, and how can I stop it?

You don't even have option to attach files from cloud like Google Drive

That is essential!!!
