Outlook sometimes gets stuck at "Loading Profile" when it restarts

I have the long time issue where sometimes when I click on the Outlook icon on the taskbar (to get its focus) while Outlook is running, Outlook disappears (no GUI) with a ghost Outlook.exe left running in the task manager which I have to kill before I can restart Outlook. I restart Outlook and it starts fine. But once a while it starts and gets stuck at the 'Loading Profile' splash screen.
The only workaround  is to restart the machine.

Searching the web, some people mentioned some Outlook files might be locked by the antivirus software or the Windows Search indexer is locking some files or some other software is doing this. While these may be some ideas, I am looking for a working action that enables Outlook to run instead of rebooting the system. I m running Windows 7.

Any suggestions?

Fixing invalid content for Internet Calendar Subscriptions reported error (0x00042000)

Hello,

I've run into an issue adding a specific user's ICS calendar into my Outlook 2013.  The user's ICS link was created through their Office 365 account.  Adding the user's ICS calendar link I get 3 errors stating there is invalid content near line "xxx" and that the line was skipped.  An example of the error is pasted below, but without the actual line number.

Task 'Internet Calendar Subscriptions' reported error (0x00042000) : 'Invalid content near line xxx. Line skipped.'

I also receive another error, which is pasted below, but without the actual line number.

Task 'Internet Calendar Subscriptions' reported error (0x0004003F) : 'The VEVENT, "Tentative", defined near line xxx, lacks both a DTSTART and a DTEND. Outlook is assuming that the appointment starts today. Double-click to open this item.'

I've already attempted the following troubleshooting steps, but none resolved the issue

1) Removed the ICS calendar and re-added it

2) ran outlook /cleansharing and also re-added the ICS calendar

3) Had the user who created the ICS link by sharing his calendar remove the share and re-share the calendar to create a new ICS link

Also,  ICS links shared from other users within the same orginzation do not have an issue when I add them to my Outlook.  Only this one user.

What I'd like to know is how can I find which calendar events or content is associated with each error and the referenced line number so I can address the invalid content from the users end who provided the ICS link?  Please let me know if you have any questions.

How to remove Microsoft Office Outlook from Search Index Option

Hi,

We are running Office 365, and in the Search Index Option we have Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Outlook both checked.  Microsoft Office Outlook when checked causes random pop up error message that there is no Outlook Mail Client.  How do I remove this location without manually un-checking it? I need to fix it enterprise-wide.

This is the error message.

Can't connect to Shared Mailbox even though user has Full Access

We have a shared mailbox located on a exchange 2010 on premise server. For about 2 weeks whenever I give a new person full access in exchange console and they try to expand the folder in Outlook 2016, I am hit with a "The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed". Strangely enough, they can open the shared mailbox in owa.

I have tried adding the permission via shell with the auto mapping clause set to false. I have tried adding the box manually via account settings. I have tried cached mode on with the download public folders option enabled and cached mode off and both have the same error result.

Shared calendar is showing up in "Shared Calendars" even though it's under "My Calendar"

We have a user who has access to a shared calendar which they placed that under "My Calendars" but sometimes the shared calendar will show up under "Shared Calendars" which then they remove it from there but at various times it come back. On the Exchange server the Automapping was set to False.

Outlook 2016 and Exchange 2016, on prem.

Any ideas?

Sending Encrypted Emails in Outlook

We recently setup Azure RMS with the intent of sending emails using the Encrypt Only template. This was working fine until recently. A user was having issue with RMS and couldn't download the templates. I followed the steps from this article (https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7d467c59-8048-4adf-904f-e1ebdd4040a2/no-logged-on-office-users-are-configured-for-information-rights-management-irm?forum=WindowsAzureAD) and was able to bring back the templates. Upon attempting to send an email with the Encrypt Only template, however, Outlook prompted the error "Microsoft Outlook was not able to create a message with restricted permission". I tested RMS using the Poweshell cmdlet Test-IRMConfiguration -sender [USER EMAIL] and all tests passed just fine. I was also able to send encrypted emails from my own account without any issue. I suspect that the issue is not with our Azure RMS configuration.

Autogenerated messages that webservices.dll is not allowed

Hello,

Sorry for a lack of detail but I'm not sure what to look at for this.

I'm working with a user who keeps getting an auto-generated email message that's he's not allowed to save webservices.dll to his network drive. He's not trying to save anything and DLLs aren't supposed to be saved in that location, it's blocked by company policy. But we don't know why he's getting these messages.

He has Outlook 2010 but the company should be on 2016, he must have not gotten the push to upgrade it. Could that be related?

Outlook 2019 - Search - Search parameters now only in English

Hello,

i have been working with Windows 10 and Outlook 2019 (incl. Exchange connection) for a few weeks now, before that with Windows 8.

1-2 weeks ago I noticed that the Outook search (instant search i.e. the field you reach via Ctrl+E) didn't seem to work anymore. As it turned out, it only accepts English search parameters/prefixes. All settings for my system and Office/Outlook are in German as far as I can see. For example in Outlook -> Options -> Language everything is set to German as default.

But I still have to use English search parameters like from: instead ofvon:

Where or how can I change it back to German? Or is it an exchange setting my admin is not aware of?

I have years worth of email saved on a Microsoft Outlook .pst file that I would like to bring on over to my mac book pro. How can I import these saved emails from Outlook 2007 to Mail.app?

Outlook cannot return result and show "we couldn't find what you were looking for"when search

Hi,

Please be informed that we are using Outlook 2016 (16.0.4549.1000) 32 bit. I created a outlook map my email & a generic account in Outlook so there are 2 accounts in my Outlook.

What we encounter is the result can be display if i search email in my account. but i try to search email in the generic there is no result return and show "we couldn't find what you were looking for". we confirm that the target is exist in the generic mailbox.

Check the index status that the indexing complete and the ost file has bee click in index option. May i know anything we can do except to perform rebuild index?

Sent items missing after saving PST file

Hi,

Recently, I changed my email provider. I have been using Outlook. Before cancelling the service, I exported my emails to a PST file. This was an MS Exchange account. When I set up the new Outlook - now with POP - all sent items are missing. All other subfolders and emails are intact. The old service is now cancelled, so I have no access to emails on the previous service provider's servers.

Related - I did the same for my partner's PC. She's missing sent items and most emails in her subfolders.

Question Regarding Insights from MyAnalytics

Hello Guys,

We have enabled E1 - Office 365 License for users in a specific location. As Insights from MyAnalytics is included in the plan. We have enabled that as well.

We have also added the Add-in to the Microsoft 365 admin center.

But not everyone are able to view the Add-in on their Outlook ribbon.

Can anyone suggest.

Outlook: Failed to update Headers

I am using Office 2010, and outlook for my email needs.

My internet provider is Spectrum, and they instructed me to use IMAP server. I followed their instructions and it has been working for the last couple of years, but it stopped working for incoming mails (outgoing seems to be working). 

When I opens Outlook 2010, and the following message appears; 

failed update headers/IMAP command failed/Protocol:IMAP/server: mail.charter.net/Port:993

What would be the solution here? I asked Spectrum for this issue, and they insist that this is not their issue, but Microsoft. however, the test message from Microsoft does show up when I access Spectrum Web Mail, but it does not show on Outlook 2010 Inbox.

Outlook 2013 - Error message "550 Request failed; Mailbox unavailable"

Hello,

I have been using Outlook 2013 for a while without problems but recently I have started having issues when emailing.

I frequently send emails for my boss and have the replies directed back to his email. I have also tried changing "from" to his email address so that it looks like it comes directly from him.

Recently, when I try to do either of these actions I get the email back with the message:  550 Request failed; Mailbox unavailable.

I have no issues when I leave my email address as the "from", or have the replies just come back to me.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

What does More link do exactly at the end of quick search results

Can anyone explain or point me to an article that explains exactly what results are being returned when a user clicks the More link at the end of a search query list? I'm looking to give my users tips on improving their search results and this 'More' button seems to expand the results returned from a search.

Office 2019 'Contacting the server for information'

Sometimes our Office 2019 (on premises NOT 0365) comes up with 'Contacting the server for information' when starting.  This takes about 15 - 20 seconds.  I don't know if it succeeds or fails, but users get very agitated.  Especially as normal start time for Excel is about 3 seconds.  

How do I block this behaviour?

MAC OS Outlook Delegate issues

Hello there

I have an issue with Outlook for Mac OS - There is an admin who is delegated to two different individuals. If she creates a teams meeting for User A, and then a Teams meeting for user B from her Outlook client on MAC OS,  the Second meeting she created will show the proper conference ID, however, it will come up as an INvalid conference ID when attendees attempt to join

This does not occur if she creates the meeting from a Windows Client or OWA...

IS there something we are missing with the configuration of the Outlook client on mac that could possibly be malforming or misreading the dynamically generated conference ID?
