Outlook 2003 email sending & receiving suddenly stopped working

$
0
0

Sending/ receiving emails suddenly stopped working and now I get an error message every time I try to send or every time the program automatically tries to send/receive, error:Ox800cccOF

I am using a Toshiba Satellite Pro L100 laptop with XP Pro and Office 2003/ Outlook 2003.

I am still using this old system for a specific purpose, because I have numerous Office Contacts databases which I mailmerge to documents and will want to continue this for another year or so. At that point I will no longer need this and will move to using a modern computer with Windows 10 and an equally modern Office suit.

To attempt to resolve the emailing problem I have tried all of the following:

I have removed/ reset the email account settings, did a test in account settings which failed saying it “could not connect to the incoming server Pop3 – check settings and verify email address”.

My email account settings are correct and the same as I have always used for years before this problem occurred.

I am using Outlook.com email address and am using their web-based mail without any issues. This is still set to send emails to Outlook 2003 as it has always been.

Opening Outlook 2003 in safe mode still has the problem.

I have done a ping test and can access the Outlook.com servers OK.

I have also run the scan.pst Inbox Repair Tool several times which repaired a few emails, then compacted the .pst files to ensure there is enough available space in the .pst folder.

I have removed all deleted, sent, inbox emails in Outlook 2003 and in Outlook.com web-based account to remove any corrupt emails which might be blocking send/ receive.

I have disabled Avast antivirus and Ms Firewall temporarily to check if this could in any way be blocking emails, but it is not. I have both of these set to allow Outlook.com/ Outlook 2003 .

The error shows up in the Outlook Event Viewer, a copy report is available.

I had not made any changes or additions to the laptop or any software programs prior to the problem occurrence.

I have not at this point tried to repair or re-install the Outlook 2003/ Office 2003 for fear of losing any of my files, settings or personal configurations. Also I would lose all of the many Windows updates and security patches installed over the years.

I am seeking help to resolve the emailing problem.

Many thanks in advance.

How do i disable the resend option in outlook 2016?

Hi,

We have a problem with users using the resend option in outlook 2016 to send client info to unintended recipients. We are looking to disable the "Resend" option entirely. Unfortunately, my IT support team hasn't been able to find this option or a relevant group policy which helps in achieving this. Could you please guide me where i can find resources to achieve this if possible? I tried searching on the forum, however, couldn't find a relevant discussion around it.

Outlook 2016 (v1902)/365 email preview is removing spaces

Up until a couple weeks ago clients email preview was working fine, I checked for any recently installed updates that would affect Outlook, I checked all updates installed since Jan 1 and none of them that I could tell would cause all her emails to remove spaces in preview mode.  It's also not reading the first line of the email we've set it to 1 line, 2 line 3 line still removing spaces and not showing the first line.  If we edit message and changing the formatting to rich text but it then displays the coding for the image instead, plus then messed up the size of the image in the email..  Client's been getting these emails for years, these emails are coming from a database, checked the reveal formatting and the content is a table, client does not feel it's the database email formatting is the problem because it's doing the same thing on older emails that were displaying properly before.  From all the posts I've read online, I've tried adjusting the view settings in multiple different ways, and it's not changing, client believes its' something to do with Outlook or Exchange Server because a co-worker is experiencing the same problem.

I have a word doc with all the screen shots and problem explained in the clients words.  Unfortunately I do not have any screen shots of what her preview use to look like.

Client does have a token bloat issues, which was preventing her from getting into OWA but they are reducing the number of groups but no change yet, I've increased token size max in the registry made no difference.  Trying to get her groups down to under 500.

Outlook 2016 prevent previous search popup

Is it possible to prevent search from displaying previous search results when I click on the search field? Every time I start to search, I have to click away before I can start typing my search text. I know there's an option for displaying results as I type, but that setting is different than what I'm talking about. This only started to happen in 2016 - it didn't happen in 2010 or 2013.

Thanks.

issues with publishing editor setting on personal calendars

A user with publishing editor permissions of another users calendar is unable to delete items in outlook 2016 even though she can delete items in office 365 ? Have tried rebuilding the users profile and removing cached exchange mode and reparing outlook and deleting cache but issue persists.

It doesn't seem to be a permission issue as all works fine in outlook.office.com

Why does Outlook keep prompting for password

$
0
0

We have seen our community members ask questions about Outlook keeps prompting for credentials many times. This issue could be caused by numerous reasons. Below is a list of the most common reasons for this problem:

    • Outlook is configured to prompt you for credentials
    • Incorrect password cached in credential storage
    • Required Authentication Settings for outgoing server and incoming server
    • Outlook Anywhere is not configured to use NTLM Authentication
    • Corrupt Outlook profile
    • Slow or unstable network connection
    • Antivirus programs
    • Shared calendars

Outlook is configured to prompt you for credentials

If you are using an Exchange account, there is a setting in your Outlook profile to always prompt for logon credentials. To find the setting, please follow:

    1. In Outlook 213, go to File tab > Info>Account Settings> Account Settings…

    2. Highlight your Exchange account and click Change button.

    3. Click on More Settings button.

    4. Select the Security tab.

    5. Under the User Identification, make sure the “Always prompt for logon credentials” option is not selected.

If you are using other types of email, please make sure you have ticked the option “Remember password”.

Incorrect credential cached in Credential Manager

Your Windows system stores user credentials on your computer. If the cached credentials are incorrect, you will be prompted for password. This issue usually happens after the password for your domain user account is changed. Before your password changed, you saved your credentials. The stored credentials are not overwritten when Outlook triggers the authentication prompt even if you enable the Remember my credentials option.

To fix this issue, you need to remove the corrupted credentials, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Credential Manager.

Note If View by is set to Category, click User Accounts first, and then click Credential Manager.

    2. Locate  the set of credentials that has Outlook in the name.

    3. Click the name to expand the set of credentials, and then click Remove from Vault.

Repeat step 3 for any additional sets of credentials that have the word Outlook in the name.

Required Authentication Settings for outgoing server and incoming server

Different email provider may need different authentication settings. Please make sure you have set the server settings correctly. You can contact your email provider to gather the information.

In general, we select the “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” option and the first bullet “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”.

In addition, click on the Advanced tab and check if you have enter the correct Server Port Number and select the correct encrypt type. Below is a screenshot for an IMAP account:

Outlook Anywhere is not configured to use NTLM Authentication

The Outlook Anywhere feature allows you to access your Exchange account remotely from the Internet when you are working outside your organization's firewall.

When using Outlook Anywhere to connect to your Exchange server, we need to choosethe authentication method among Basic Authentication, NTLM Authentication and Negotiate Authentication. The difference among them is the way that the passwords are sent when connecting to the server. With Basic Authentication, the password is sent in clear text. Using NTLM Authenticationcan significantly reduce the number of password prompts.

To check the authentication setting, please go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings, select the Exchange account, and then clickChange. In the Change Account wizard, click More Settings, and then click the Connection tab. Click the Exchange Proxy Settings button and now, you can see the settings underProxy authentication settings. Try to change the authentication toNTLM Authentication and then check the issue again.

      Slow or unstable network connection

If your network connection is slow or unstable, Outlook may lose connection to the mail server. When Outlook try to reconnect, it will prompt for the credentials. To verify this, please switch to a stable network environment and then check if this issue persists.

      Corrupt Outlook Profile

Corrupt profile may cause Outlook to no longer remember your password. Please try to create a new mail profile in Control Panel and reconfigure your email account in the new profile to fix the issue. To create a new mail profile, you can refer:

      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918

      Antivirus software

Antivirus software usually integrates into your Outlook and it may cause some conflicts. Try to temporarily turn off your antivirus software to check if the issue will be gone.

      Shared Calendar

Shared calendars can impact the user credentials, this issue may also occur if you have shared calendars opened in Outlook. You can try to unselect the shared calendar to check the result. It’s recommended to not open the shared calendar unless you want to view them.

If you have any comments, welcome to post in the forum. Thank you.

Paste (CTRL + V) having issues on newly upgraded to Windows 10 PCs in Outlook 365 2016

Recently upgraded PC's from Windows 7 and Office 2013 to Windows 10 Office 365 2016 and now copy and paste in Outlook has issues. It works sometimes, but not all the time. It will ALWAYS paste anywhere else except in Outlook, where it will paste sometimes. There's really no rhyme or reason why things just randomly work. It works evertytime if you right click and then click paste, that will work but it's not really efficient with all the Copying and Pasting these users do. It's happening on around 10 PC's after the upgrades. I can't find any information on this so I was wondering if anyone had seen this issue before. I have tried the below:

      1. Repaired Office
      2. Recreated Outlook profile
      3. Made sure that their copy and paste settings in Outlook were correct

I know Copy is working because it will Paste every single time and I can see it in the Clipboard, it's just the Paste (CTRL + V) isn't working. I gave them a workaround ( Shift + Insert) but they don't like using that.

      Hi all,

My organization has migrated over til O365 from Office 2013.

All mailboxes are migrated and we have enabled MFA.
We are using AD Connect to sync.

The problem we have are facing now is related to MFA were the users are getting an error if EnableADAL is turned on.

I have checked the ADD Broker Token Log in the Event Viewer and I see this error.

Email Encryption issue with Outlook 2016

A couple months ago I replied on a thread related to my issue that posted this link as the resolution: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/tn-archive/aa997803(v=exchg.65)?redirectedfrom=MSDN

This resolution did not work for any of my users having issues with email encryption, which includes not being able to send/receive encrypted emails, not being able to open encrypted emails, or receiving an error while sending an encrypted email that states the users credentials cannot be found. I did not receive a reply for when I asked for another opinion or resolution for the issue so I am starting this thread here. I work for the DoD and have a lot of military personnel as my customers.

I have done a lot of troubleshooting with my customers and have not found anything to remedy the issues. I'd like to get a solid answer sometime soon as I have had tickets piling up over the last couple months. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

I've already got much of next year planned on my calendar and there's some periods where I'll need to have the Out Of Office auto-replier running.  Rather than just setting it up for one, then remembering to change it for the next, is there any way I could do them all in advance?

[SOLVED] Outlook for Android: S/MIME certificate not found ???

      $

      0

I've got a valid S/MIME certificate issued by GlobalSign on my Android Galaxy A40 (Android 9) installed for VPN and apps.

The certificate contains the proper KUs and EKUs and my email address in the SAN.

I also have installed the intermediates for trust purposes.

I've validated that the certificate and corresponding private key are properly installed manually, so they are not affected by sandboxing.

The most recent version of Outlook for Android supports S/MIME under settings -> Security.

You can only slide it on or off.

After restarting the app the option of digitally sign and encrypt becomes available.

However Outlook for Android keeps stating:  We couldn't find your S/MIME certificate. Install a certificate or please contact your IT help desk.

As I am the IT help desk, I'm asking my question here, I'm hoping someone can help.

Where does Outlook for Android expect the S/MIME certificate and key to be installed other than in the default Android certificate store?

Does anyone know why Outlook for Android cannot find the S/MIME certificate?

(I know about the iOS requirement of using Intune but this doesnt seem to apply to Android)

Outlook 2010 Calendar issue - can't delete items of shared calendar, but can move it of

So I'm deploying Office 2010 to our group and our office assistant/receptionist helps manage several calendars and he was able to do so witout problem after the upgrade from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2010. But the other day out of the blue he started to not be able to add meetings to peoples calendar, but that now works in part to the /cleanfreebusy switch, but he is not able to delete meetings from other peoples calendar. He keeps getting the following error mesg: "Could not complete the deletion. The items may have been already deleted or moved."

He does have full editor access for the calendars. The other users are still using Office 2003, except for two (who are using 2010), but he has the same issue with their calendar also. Now here is the really strange thing, he is able to drag and move (holding the shift key down) the appointment from the users calendar to his and then it's gone from the other persons calendar, then he is able to delete it from his calendar without any issues.

I have removed and recreated the Outlook exchange mail profile. The meetings he puts on peoples calendar does show on those peoples calendar. I've run every Outlook command line switch I could find.
