Outlook 2016 keeps disconnecting from exhange

$

Hey,

My Outlook (16.34) is all set up to receive my work email via the exchange settings and things seem to work for approx 2 days before the connection suddenly drops.  Tried to reconnect however you just get the "connecting to" message appear on the bottom right hand side of Outlook and nothing happens.

Tried to reconnect, disconnect, close, restart the computer but still nothing works.  The only thing that does work is to go into the preferences and remove the account completely before re-adding it back on.

Surely this isn't right?

The settings I have work fine with the Apple Mail application or on Outlook for Windows so all signs point to something being wrong on Outlook for Mac.

My machine is a 2019 MacBook and its running the latest OS with no updated waiting installation .

Any superstars here know a possible fix?

Thanks

Scott Saunders

Determine who is using Outlook Customer Manager ?

We've been advised of the upcoming retirement.
We have some users on perpetual Office software suites and some users in Office 365.

Is this available to both or it's strictly an Office 365 feature?
Is there a way to tell in the MS 365 admin consoles who is using it?

Or any ideas of what to check using a batch script ?

Migrating emails from a public folder to a user mailbox

Hi,

a customer of my MSP has a public folder. I am tasked with creating a user mailbox, migrating the mails from the public folder to it and assigning the primary SMTP of the public folder to the mailbox.

My question is: What is the advised way of getting the mails from a to b? I wasn't able to find a support item for this task.

Any advise is greatly appreciated!

Outlook 2003 email sending & receiving suddenly stopped working

$

Sending/ receiving emails suddenly stopped working and now I get an error message every time I try to send or every time the program automatically tries to send/receive, error:Ox800cccOF

I am using a Toshiba Satellite Pro L100 laptop with XP Pro and Office 2003/ Outlook 2003.

I am still using this old system for a specific purpose, because I have numerous Office Contacts databases which I mailmerge to documents and will want to continue this for another year or so. At that point I will no longer need this and will move to using a modern computer with Windows 10 and an equally modern Office suit.

To attempt to resolve the emailing problem I have tried all of the following:

I have removed/ reset the email account settings, did a test in account settings which failed saying it “could not connect to the incoming server Pop3 – check settings and verify email address”.

My email account settings are correct and the same as I have always used for years before this problem occurred.

I am using Outlook.com email address and am using their web-based mail without any issues. This is still set to send emails to Outlook 2003 as it has always been.

Opening Outlook 2003 in safe mode still has the problem.

I have done a ping test and can access the Outlook.com servers OK.

I have also run the scan.pst Inbox Repair Tool several times which repaired a few emails, then compacted the .pst files to ensure there is enough available space in the .pst folder.

I have removed all deleted, sent, inbox emails in Outlook 2003 and in Outlook.com web-based account to remove any corrupt emails which might be blocking send/ receive.

I have disabled Avast antivirus and Ms Firewall temporarily to check if this could in any way be blocking emails, but it is not. I have both of these set to allow Outlook.com/ Outlook 2003 .

The error shows up in the Outlook Event Viewer, a copy report is available.

I had not made any changes or additions to the laptop or any software programs prior to the problem occurrence.

I have not at this point tried to repair or re-install the Outlook 2003/ Office 2003 for fear of losing any of my files, settings or personal configurations. Also I would lose all of the many Windows updates and security patches installed over the years.

I am seeking help to resolve the emailing problem.

Many thanks in advance.

Outlook 2016 (v1902)/365 email preview is removing spaces

Up until a couple weeks ago clients email preview was working fine, I checked for any recently installed updates that would affect Outlook, I checked all updates installed since Jan 1 and none of them that I could tell would cause all her emails to remove spaces in preview mode.  It's also not reading the first line of the email we've set it to 1 line, 2 line 3 line still removing spaces and not showing the first line.  If we edit message and changing the formatting to rich text but it then displays the coding for the image instead, plus then messed up the size of the image in the email..  Client's been getting these emails for years, these emails are coming from a database, checked the reveal formatting and the content is a table, client does not feel it's the database email formatting is the problem because it's doing the same thing on older emails that were displaying properly before.  From all the posts I've read online, I've tried adjusting the view settings in multiple different ways, and it's not changing, client believes its' something to do with Outlook or Exchange Server because a co-worker is experiencing the same problem.

I have a word doc with all the screen shots and problem explained in the clients words.  Unfortunately I do not have any screen shots of what her preview use to look like.

Client does have a token bloat issues, which was preventing her from getting into OWA but they are reducing the number of groups but no change yet, I've increased token size max in the registry made no difference.  Trying to get her groups down to under 500.

How do i disable the resend option in outlook 2016?

Hi,

We have a problem with users using the resend option in outlook 2016 to send client info to unintended recipients. We are looking to disable the "Resend" option entirely. Unfortunately, my IT support team hasn't been able to find this option or a relevant group policy which helps in achieving this. Could you please guide me where i can find resources to achieve this if possible? I tried searching on the forum, however, couldn't find a relevant discussion around it.

.OST file size increase does not work

Hello,

I am an Office 365Pro user, with two mailboxes synced into my outlook. The gmail based mailbox tops out at 50GB, but I'd need a 150.

Added the right DWORD files (MaxLargeFileSize 0x00025800 (153600) and the warn file) to here:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\PST

Yet, after multiple restarts, the .ost file remains topped out at 50GB.

I've also added the same files under 12.0\Outlook\PST and simply Office\Outlook\PST, just in case. Is there anything else I can modify to make it work? The Microsoft Exchange mailbox does go up to 100GB

Do you guys have any recommendation?

Thanks,

Peter

We went back to Semi-annual and now we have issues with the outlook being very slow other updates include the below, I did notice that outlook using process explorer when looking at outlook.exe under GPU the Committed GP memory for outlook can go from 20mb to averaging about 80mb and uptp 140mb when switching between emails and mailboxes this is unusually high considering we're a xendesktop W10 environment without GPU nvidia grid in our datacentre so it's all cpu driven, any ideas?

A restart of outlook can help but for heavy users this is a pain

S/MIME in Outlook for Android not recognized

$

Hi,

I've got a valid S/MIME certificate issued by GlobalSign on my Android MI A3 (Android One) installed for VPN and apps.

The certificate contains the proper KUs and EKUs and my email address in the SAN.

The most recent version of Outlook for Android supports S/MIME under settings -> Security.

You can only slide it on or off.

After restarting the app the option of digitally sign and encrypt becomes available.

However Outlook for Android keeps stating:  We couldn't find your S/MIME certificate. Install a certificate or please contact your IT help desk.

As I am the IT help desk, I'm asking my question here, I'm hoping someone can help.

Where does Outlook for Android expect the S/MIME certificate and key to be installed other than in the default Android certificate store?

Does anyone know why Outlook for Android cannot find the S/MIME certificate?

(I know about the iOS requirement of using Intune but this doesnt seem to apply to Android)

I saw the threat https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/de-DE/29c8b97b-3b87-4880-bf72-94c864c9737e/solved-outlook-for-android-smime-certificate-not-found-?forum=outlook (and stole the text) but reuploading the SST did not help.

Any suggestions?

Outlook crashes when creating new item via VBS

Hi,

I am using the following code for years. In all version of Outlook, to Outlook 2013, Outlook 2016, Outlook 2019. One difference though. I recently had to upgrade old, good Windows 7 (EN,. 64-bit)  to new, bloated, bad bad bad Windows 10 (EN, 64-bit).

I am using 32-bit Office everywhere.

But experimenting with this error, this error appears even at 64-bit version of the Office.

It is Custom Form where I have a button to "clone" the item... i.e. to create a new one and set some of the values.

Whenever the code runs to nova.Subject   or nova.UserProperties()  assignment, it causes Outlook to disappear.

Boom.As if Outlook never was running. Silently dies.

Poof.

When looking into Windows  Event Viewer, I can  see clear error message:

Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 15.0.4659.1000, time stamp: 0x5417eba5

With updates, without updates. All versions.

Only difference is Win 7---->Win10.

No antivirus. No bloatware. I am positive I turned off all bloatware. Tried many machines, many Offices.

All computers look into the same Exchange mailbox.

Also when I put it into PST file, problem stays. It is problem of more forms, so not, not corrupted form.

I also cleaned form cache, repaired OST file. removed OST file. Repaired Office. Nothing. Nothing works.

Only I was able to observe this chain is involved:

ntdll.dll

kernel32.dll

user32.dll

fm20.dll

                              C:\Windows\System32\FM20.DLL

                              C:\Windows\SysWOW64\FM20.DLL

vbscript.dll

                              C:\Windows\System32\vbscript.dll

                              C:\Windows\SysWOW64\vbscript.dll

outlvbs.dll          "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\OUTLVBS.DLL"

outlook.exe

From this chain and from the fact that it is Windows 10 what makes problem I assume, there is some bad bad bad bug in all Outlook versions.

Not to be so easy, there are at least two patches I know they cripple VBS functionality an altogether:

KB4475563

KB3054854

So when you try to reproduce my problem, please make sure you conform to these registry

https://www.slipstick.com/outlook/custom-form-security/

and make sure you uninstall the two patches that cripple the VBS functionality before you even can test the error.

I wish someone from Microsoft could take care of this part of functionality because it starts to be real Hell to kepp it working.

The function that causes Outlook to crash silently is:

Function cmdKlon_Click()
    Dim fld, polozky, nova
    Set fld= Item.Parent
    Set polozky=fld.Items
    Set nova=polozky.Add (Item.MessageClass)
    nova.Subject= "## KLONOVÁNO  ## " & Item.Subject
    nova.UserProperties("Zdroj")=Item.UserProperties("Zdroj")
    nova.Categories=Item.Categories
    nova.UserProperties("ProgJazyk")=Item.UserProperties("ProgJazyk")
    nova.UserProperties("ZeKdy")=Item.UserProperties("ZeKdy")
    nova.UserProperties("Aplikace")=Item.UserProperties("Aplikace")
    nova.UserProperties("Projekt")=Item.UserProperties("Projekt")
    nova.UserProperties("SouborNazev")=Item.UserProperties("SouborNazev")
    nova.Display
End Function

The similar function I use in more forms, all have the same issue.

The issue will lie somewhere in the DLL chain I suggested. Somewhere in what changed from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

Thank you for any help

How to lock Folder Pane/Navigation Pane

$

Good day,

I seem to have an issue in Outlook where I go to highlight the contents of the search field (or sometimes just click into it if it's already empty) and I end up with a minimised folder pane.  I expand it again and hit the pin, but I seem to keep having this happen.  I don't recall this happening with previous versions of outlook and I'm confident I'm not actually clicking the button, even if I was in a dragging motion it shouldn't be able to treat the swipe as a tap action for the button surely?

I have plenty of screen space and I'm quite certain I will never need the folder tab minimising, can I ask, is there a way (perhaps through GPO or the registry) that the folder pane can be locked or the button hidden?

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions!

Kind regards,

Oscar

Outlook crashes when creating new item via VBS since Windows 10

Whenever the code runs to nova.Subject   or nova.UserProperties()  assignment, it causes Outlook to disappear.

I trace the crash by inserting MsgBox "test one"     MsgBox "test two" and this way I see exact line where the code causes Outlook to silently die. It is always At the time  new Item of my customized MessageCalss is created (Task type of item), not being saved and just as I try to modify the value of property thereof.

Adding of the new item itself does nothing wrong.

Boom. As if Outlook never was running. It silently disappears from applications. Not even Outlook.exe is running in TaskManager. It all happens so so quickly.

Outlook 2016 repeatedly asks for password and none of the fixes I have found are working

$

Overview:
Windows 7 SP1 w/Outlook 2016 in a domain connecting to an onsite Exchange 2010 server in the same domain.
No passwords were changed before this problem started.
The Credential Manager does not have any entries.
Only happening to one of 45 users and all users are running same OS, Outlook version, and have the same domain policies.

Problem:
The affected user opens Outlook and are prompted for the password.  Of course, they can either enter the credentials and check the box to save them, which it doesn't.  Alternatively, they can close the password prompt and click on the "Need password" notice at the bottom of Outlook, which lets them into Outlook without typing a password.  Either way, they are prompted for their password the next time they open Outlook.

How can I make Outlook or Windows remember their credentials or, better yet, just use the credentials they used to logon the computer?

Thank you in advance!

OR they can close the password prompt and just click on the "Need password" in the bottom of Outlook, without entering a password.

Please help me resolve this problem.  Thank you in advance!

How does Alexa access Outlook calendar and email information

$

I have a few questions about how Alexa accesses information in Office 365 Outlook's calendar and email.

1) Does the connection occur using Activesync, the O365 API, or some other mechanism?

2) What permissions are needed on the email and calendar? Does Alexa require full owner permission?

3) Can Alexa access be granted to the calendar, and not to Outlook email?

4) I understand that the Alexa privacy setting "Manage how you data improves Alexa" can be turned off.  Does this fully protect the confidentiality of the user's Outlook calendar events and email messages?

Thank you in advance.

Outlook 365 2016 Trusted Platform Module error code 80090016

I have quite a few machines where after launching Outlook and trying to authenticate, they get a "something went wrong" error that Trusted Platform Module has malfunctioned, error code 80090016.  The server message is "Keyset does not exist Keyset does not exist".

If different users log in on the same computers, their Outlooks functions properly.  So I assume it's something just in those users' profiles, but I'd prefer not to delete the users' profiles if there is a fix that could be done to each instead.  Anyone know how to fix this without completely deleting the user profile off the machine?

Here's the output of dsregcmd /status from a profile with the TPM error

But if I configure IMAP it works fine. Even Active sync in office 2010 works fine for users.

Only problem occurs when i configure Active sync in Office 2016.

Kindly suggest.

A lot of folks here have posted questions similar to this. However the solutions presented or suggested just don't work for me. I have 2016 Professional Office and I have re-installed it half-a-dozen times, cleaned out the registry but to no avail. I can only open it in safe mode and that too after I created a new profile. Otherwise these is nothing I can do to fix this issue. The only other solution would be to re-image my hard disk which is something I will not do because it is a dumb-dumb work around solution. There has got to be something that will fix this and I know there is someone out there who has made this to work. PLEASE HELP.

Delegate user's inbox not Caching

Setup is: Office 365 with MS Office 365 Pro Plus.

Have got an issue with the PA's Outlook not caching the CEO's inbox. PA has delegate access to the CEO applied via EAC.

CEO inbox showing 'Online' and displaying all emails. At the bottom of the list it says 'Currently displaying all messages newer than 12 months' but last email is from 2009.

PA feels this is slowing her Outlook.

Troubleshooting steps taken:

  1. Signed PA into spare laptop to use for testing, CEO inbox still showing 2500+ emails
  2. Turned Cache mode on/off a few times – checked, still the same.
  3. Applied registry edit to ‘Cache other users inbox’ - no effect.
  4. Repaired/updated Office to 64bit.
  5. Removed delegate access from CEO to PA via EAC.
  6. Waited for CEO inbox to disappear from PA Outlook.
  7. Restarted Outlook and re-added delegate access from CEO to PA via EAC. Result all emails returned as before. CEO account still showing 'Online'.
  8. Removed delegate access from CEO to PA via EAC again and then renamed .ost file to ost.old
  9. Opened outlook, confirmed new .ost file created.
  10. Applying delegate access once more from CEO to PA via EAC.
  11. CEO inbox still showing all emails
  12. Gave myself delegate access to CEO
  13. CEO inbox in my Outlook cached correctly – showing ‘connected’ and displaying 249 emails
  14. Have checked for Sync errors - all ok

Any advice as to how i can get the CEO's inbox to Cache for this user would be much appreciated.
