Outlook 2010 prompting to "Insert smart card"

Before anyone refers me to the KB articles or other threads which address this problem, let me say that I have seen them and have performed the requested operations referenced in the following KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2704959/en-us

The exchange server is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 with Exchange Server 2007.
The clients are running Windows 7 x64 or Windows 2008 Server with Microsoft Outlook 2010 Professional Plus - both of these are up-to-date.

While an older version of IIS (v6.0) is running on the exchange server, the settings specified by the previously indicated KB are correctly configured, yet clients on both of these platforms across the domain continue to encounter these prompts.  Aside from attempting to uninstall the KBs that are responsible for this on the first place (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;2553248, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;2597137, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;2597011), which are not even present on some of the systems that exhibit this problem (but may rolled in to the Service Packs for Office, though I have been unable to verify this), what else can be done to remove or otherwise prevent this prompt from endlessly harassing our users?

Thanks!

Sorry for the lack of links in the body, apparently I can't include them until my account is verified.

Outlook 2010 won't display images in emails - typical red "x" with "The linked image cannot be displayed."

Outlook won't display images on received emails, and this was working until Tuesday of this week. We are using hosted Exchange (I think 2010). After each of the following, I restarted Outlook.

1) Show picture placeholder is unchecked.

2) There are no senders in the blocked senders, and I have moved a couple addresses to the safe senders list for testing. No change.

3) The OutlookSecuretempFolder has been cleaned out. I've changed the BlockHTTPImages in the registry and back with no change.

4) I've even created a new Outlook profile with no change.

Because of #4, I presume there is a system setting that is corrupt, but I don't know where to look. I deleted all the cached information in IE, but still no change. I can click the link at the top of an email that says something along the lines of "click here is the email doesn't display properly", and the images show up in the browser. I can forward the email to another account, and it displays just fine.

I'd really appreciate any ideas as this is taking up way too much time. Thanks

Outlook 2010 Calendar shows only text for Hyperlinks

I am working on a Windows 7 (enterprise) 32 bit computer installed with Office 2010 in an enterprise environment.  Outlook is on Exchange.

In Outlook Mail hyper links look and act normally, however in the Calendar all hyperlinks look like text. You can right click on the text and "select hyperlink" and they turn into a proper visible link you can click on, but the user would like to have them look and work normally without having to do that.

I have looked at all the settings I can find about hyperlinks in Outlook, and find nothing out of the ordinary and I have also done a repair on the OST in desperation and even uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled Office and downloaded a new OST, however there is no change. We work in a large enterprise environment and I have probably worked on thousands of computers here and this is not normal for us It seems like this would be some obscure setting I just can't find or perhaps something wrong in the registry. About the only thing I have not done is reimage the computer, but that seems extreme for this kind of problem, and the user would rather not lose the productive time while I reimage and set it up again. Can someone please help Thanks.

outlook addressee cache not alphbetically listed

HI

I have this complaint from many users in our domain .

When they type first 2 letters of the addressee e.g. "Je", the list should appear showing the names starting with "Je" , and they can select from there.

Unfortunately ,When they type Je , an address with the name Rebecca also appears .

This shows list is not alphabetically sorted .

I have tried to delete the single entry and also clear entire cache and then start again .

However , after typing in these two addressee , again the addressee cache list shows the same error .

This seems to indicate the addressee cache is not indexed or alphabetically sorted (as user expects it to be)

Please advise , what we can do .

Shared Task List

Hello

I work for a hospital and we use a microsoft exchange server and have Outlook 2010.  In a job share position, we developed a task list to communicate job responsiblities and updates.  The person that owned the task list has left the company and transferred the task list to our supervisor.  The problem is my supervisor is having difficulty allowing others to have full responsibilities to the task list.  She has made us all owners of the task list, but we are unable to modify items as we originally did when we had a shared task list with the original owner.

Any suggestions?

Roam outlook profiles without roaming profiles

Im in a environment right now where the users are setup with folder redirection and no profiles.

I do have folder redirection on %Appdata% so the signatures will follow.

But everytime the user using a new computer they will have to load a new outlook profile again.

Is there any way kind of roaming the outlookprofile with only folder redirection? Use script gpo or something?

I have tried to make a export/import the regfiles of the outlook profile, the original outlook profile is vissible but it creates a new one anyway when users start outlook.

sending e-mails in Outlook

Hi everyone,

When sending an e-mail in my business’ Outlook 2010 version, the names in the address book appear when I enter the first letter in the “To” box. After sending the e-mail, there is a possibility to remove the e-mail address in the same “To” box. Also addresses removed by accident can’t be retrieved. Is it possible to block this option for removing addresses and to see all e-mail addresses which have been used before?

If this is not possible, is there an option where I can retrieve the deleted e-mail addresses which have been used in the “To” box?

Thanks for your help.

Follow-up Flags for additional mailboxes

Environmental Infomation:

  • Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
  • Office 2010 SP1

Problem: In a shared mailbox, when the user clicks the flag icon next to an email, the icon does not change.  In the preview pane, you can see the follow up status change each time you click.

  • Problem occurs when user tries to set a follow up flag on a shared mailbox
  • Problem does not occur for other users accessing the same shared mailbox
  • Problem does not occur in the users own mailbox
  • If the user restarts outlook, the icon will display correctly, however if the user clicks on it again, it does not change.

What I've already tried:

  • Creating a new Outlook profile
  • Removing the mailbox from the users Outlook, then adding it back
  • Opening Outlook in Safe Mode
  • A rain dance... It did start raining, but that did not help to resolve the issue

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Zak

Outlook 2013 (Only) - Shared Mailbox - Not Syncing

We are migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 at the moment. All of a sudden our Outlook 2013 users (All of them) cannot update Shared Mailboxes. When you select that folder it says "Updating this Folder" but nothing is happening. Only happens with their open Shared Mailbox not with their own Mailbox. I have done the following tests:

  1. Users can open the Shared Mailbox and sync properly using OWA.
  2. Users can open the Shared Mailbox but cannot sync via Outlook 2013.
  3. Users can open and sync the Shared Mailbox via Outlook 2010.
  4. Ran OST repair tool, no luck.
  5. Completely deleted the profile and wiped all the files in the outlook folder and recreated the profile, no luck. (Not syncing straight away.)
  6. Users can sync the Shared Mailbox when they are running outlook in Online mode. (I dont wanna do this coz they want to save their sent emails from a Shared Mailbox into the respective "Sent Item" folder which only works in Cached Mode.

Everything used to work fine and suddenly stopped for everyone. Can you please guide me on how to fix this?

I originally asked this question in the Server Forum but someone suggested that I should ask this here. You can find the post at the Server Forum here for more information.

Thanks in advance.

Shared Outlook Task not updating until restart the Outlook.

Hi all,

we are using exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007 in our office.

we using Outlook Task to keep track on the works and people sharing their task within the office.

We found there is problem when sharing tasks.. the content of the task doesn't update to other users until they restart their Outlook. I had a example below. hopelly it make sense. -->

  • New Task File is created by User 1 –  Using the Save and Close Button User 1 exists the Task File
  • Then User 2 adds something to Task File – Using the Save and Close Button User 2 exists the Task File
  • If  User 1 goes back into the same Task File to Add something else, he cannot see what user 2 has done unless he totally exists from Outlook, when Outlook is restarted User 1 can then see what User 2 has done.

I also found a similar post, but the solution it suggested actually doesn't works.

Outlook 2013 - 'Mark as Complete' tick not showing up

$

Hi!

One of our staff members at our school has an urgent problem (as all her work heavily revolves around emails and so they must be categorized, marked, or flagged) whereby if she marks an email in a shared mailbox as 'Complete', the tick next to the email will not show up. This issue will persist with any sort of flags applied to any emails - regardless of whether she will reopen outlook, click out into another mailbox and back in, etc.

The problem will also follow her around regardless of which networked computer she logs into, however other users with access to the same shared mailboxes and emails will not get this problem, or they will have the same problem which is worked around by clicking out into another folder and then going back into the previous mailbox/folder after applying a flag/mark- and the ticks or appropriate flags will appear.

I can confirm that cached exchange mode is switched off, I have tried to delete and re-create her mail profiles on each of the computers, carried out a profile reset (so that any Outlook settings in her roaming profile are cleared) however I still have not had any luck with resolving this problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions? From what I understand this issue is being originating from the Exchange server, as the issue still follows her around.

Many thanks

Martin

Recalled message notification from different user?

$

Hi,

I have a client who has several shared mailboxes, and full access is given to these via Exchange Management Console (2010,SP2). Clients are using a combination of Outlook 2010 and 2013.

Recently, a few messages were sent out from the shared mailbox by User A.
One minute later, these same messages were recalled by User A.

What happened then is that the shared mailbox got a notification regarding successfull message recall, but the senders were not User A, aka the person who actually recalled the messages. Also, the users listed as the sender of the successfull message recall was NOT a recipient of the original messages.

I'm struggling to figure out why this happened. Any tips?

Outlook forwarding rule questions

We are using outlook 2007. We have a specific need and from the looks of things outlook does not do what I would like it to.

We have mailbox A and mailbox B.      When a recipient sends an email to mailbox A, I would like outlook to send an email to mailbox B to say you have a new message in mailbox A as this is a shared mailbox. I do not want outlook to forward the message or send a copy of the message to mailbox B. When mailbox B would get the message saying mailbox A has a new message in the inbox, then they would log into that mailbox and answer the email.

Can this be done?

Cannot install Business Contact Manager - trying to run another application

Hello

I am trying to install Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2013, but every time when I run the installation file and the file extraction starts, a window opens trying to install a completely different programme - Wunderlist, which I had on my computer. I deleted all of the files related to Wunderlist and tried to install BCM again, but the same thing happens over and over again. I took a snapshot of the error message. After every attempt, I find a file of the type ClickOnce Application Deployment Manifest related to Wunderlist C:/Users/rg/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/TemporaryInternetFiles/Content.IE5/T5VFSWN6/Wunderlist.application

Is this a problem with BCM or Wunderlist? Has anybody had a similar problem? Any suggestions how I can solve this issue?
