Tracking emails in conversation mode in Outlook, using CRM 2015

$

We've recently deployed CRM 2015 and Outlook and it seems we have our heads wrapped around tracking and set regarding except for this case:

In Outlook, conversations are turned on. When we reply to an email, CRM adds our tracking token to the subject of the reply email. Now the subject line of the reply and the one of the original email are different. Since the subjects are no longer the same, Outlook doesn’t find both emails and display them as a conversation. You can’t easily tell that there was a reply to the email in the Inbox without searching through the Sent folder.

Any way to address this?

Hey there,

We've recently Migrated to MS Outlook 2010 from 2003 and since then the checkbox "Link to file" in Outlook is grayed out.

But we can still use this function on MS Word, Excel. Only Outlook is grayed out.

Could you please someone assist me on this.

Appreciate your help..!

Outlook requirement

Hi All,

I have a requirement, Need a way to achieve it.

When an email comes to the mailbox, I wanted an Auto reply to be sent out to the sender and at the same time I wanted the received email to get moved into a specific folder (sub folder under inbox or any folder).

So, I configured two rules in Outlook 2010 as below:

1) Have server Auto reply using specific message

2) Move received emails (email sent to the smtp address of the mailbox) to another folder.

The surprising thing is that only one rule takes action but not both.

Can someone suggest me how to make this work (make both rules trigger their action) ?

I need this add-in to use MS Access Data Collection tools but I can't get it to work.

Using Outlook 2010 and Access 2010.

Office Repair did not work. Niether did some lengthy troubleshooting by corporate IT.

The Add-in does not appear in the ADD-IN manager for Outlook. It does not appear in the list of disabled items in the ADD-IN Manager.

If I click ADD in the add-in manager I can find the ACCOLK.DLL file in the office14 folders and select it. I receive no error message

Outlook keeps sending short names to outgiong mail server

Hello,

I have configured Outlook 2013 to use SMTP auth by username in UPN format, but it keeps sending local part of username to the server:

postfix/smtpd[27896]: A404B101AFA: client=server.domain.com[1.2.3.4], sasl_method=DIGEST-MD5, sasl_username=testuser

Tried the same with Thunderbird client - it worked properly:

postfix/smtpd[25408]: 317F1101AFA: client=server.domain.com[1.2.3.4], sasl_method=CRAM-MD5, sasl_username=testuser@domain.tld

Could you tell my what is the reason of such Outlook behavior?

Outlook 2010: Shapes formatted into pictures when sent?

$

Hello!

It used to be possible to edit shapes in "reply" emails. For instance, if I inserted a text box in an email and sent that email, I used to be able to open that same sent email, change the text in the textbox, and forward it to someone else.

Now it seems that outlook formats shapes and text boxes into pictures after I send them, making it impossible to alter the text. So, if I create a table within a shape and send that email, outlook converts the table to a picture making it impossible to edit/update after I send it.

Is there a setting that will preserve shapes instead of changing them to pictures? I remember being able to "reply to all" on emails I sent to my team, and alter the text in the text box or table.

Thanks

Large file size on Tasks with inline images?

$

In Outlook 2013 when you start a new task and paste any image in the notes section it appears Outlook converts the image to some kind of uncompressed PNG file. The behavior is completely different than E-mails. I can paste an image into a task and have that Task's file size be 2mb. If I paste the same image into an email and save it as a draft it comes up at 100kb.

The image being pasted in can be from a screen capture (alt+print screen), the snipping tool, greenshot (a snipping tool alternative), or even just copied and pasted a jpg from a website. It doesn't seem to really matter.

Is there any way to stop this behavior? We use shared tasks extensively and our tasks folder sizes have gotten completely out of control. If a task has 4-5 screenshots it easily goes over 25mb. 10 of these a day, 5 days a week  and we are putting on a Gb every week per user.

I'm having a hard time tracking down an older computer with Outlook 2010 but as best as I can tell this is new with Outlook 2013.

Getting unknown error 0x8004011c. when trying to set up email account in Outlook 2013 with a Domain

Hi all

The title basically states the problem - Outlook 2013 wont set up with a Domain. This only seems to affect Windows 8.1 pro, Win 7 Pro has no problems.  If I log on to the computer itself (not the domain) Outlook runs no problem

If anyone has any ideas I would be most grateful

Thank you

Windows 7 Pro SP1

Outlook 2010

Issue: When I go to run microsoft outlook 2010. The program is running, however it will not open. The only way to run the program and use it is doing "outlook.exe /safe" This issue occurred after outlook froze and I had to end its process.

What I have tried so far:

  • Re-Creating mail profile
  • Repair Office
  • Re-Install office
  • Repair PST
  • outlook.exe /resetnavpane
  • Disabling all add-ons

I am all out of things I can think of. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Hi,
Just downloaded and installed the newly released Outlook Social Connector Beta from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c87e257c-d76f-4785-a09b-af36babd6e32&displaylang=en

Wanted to try out the LinkedIn integration.
Problem now is that Outlook crashes at startup, reporting error APPCRASH in the social connector DLL.

I can disable Social Connector addin to get Outlook working again, but would love to try out the LinkedIn integration. Anyone got this working, or got a fix for the crash?

Email issues

I have a little trouble with hotmail as sometimes there appears to be a time out issue while I am still writing my emails as when I send the email sometimes a vague error message is displayed indicating that the email cannot be sent and there is nothing visibly wrong with the email address format or the content, so it is assumed to be a threading or a network connection problem (e.g. when I select send somehow the server rejects the email as invalid without a specific reason.

The only problem I have with this is that I have to copy and paste the email to notepad and re-write it again and this can be inconvenient if I am using a mobile device for example as I wouldn't have access to the same functionality and applications that I have on my laptop or pc.  I tend to use Google Chrome as my preferred internet browser.

What I notice is that then emails are automatically saved in the drafts and I delete them but I am not sure this behaviour is consistent so I would like a clarification on how the sending mechanism works, and, also how tracking plugins may be included and how email can be digitally signed without external plug-ins as I get a lot of negative feedback (particularly from government officials who are untrusting of emails for this or that reason).

How to show email address not just name in From and To fields

$

Hi

I've recently updated from Outlook 2003 to 2010 and now I can't see email addresses in the reading pane and print outs anymore, just the name of sender and recipient.

Basically the reading pane shows this:

From: Dennis Gundersen
Sent: 19. mai 2011 21:27
To: Dennis Gundersen
Subject: Test

but I need it to show this:

From: Dennis Gundersen (dennis@myemail.com)
Sent: 19. mai 2011 21:27
To: Dennis Gundersen (dennis@myemail.com)
Subject: Test

How do I change this?

TIA

Dennis

Outlook 2013 IMAP Synchronization Problems with AOL server.

$

I get the following message multiple times when starting outlook:

Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: 2 That mail is not currently available

I have tried all the suggestions in other threads, like searching for 0 size messages (initially there were none)

and moving all your messages to temp folder and then back to the original folder

which caused all the moved messages to now show a size 0.

  • I would like to know how to fix the messages that where moved to the "Temp" folder and back so Outlook 2013 does not continue to report 0 size messages for messages that are definitely not 0 size!
  • This happened on a brand new install of 2013, and new import of old AOL mail into outlook using the wizard so everything was setup according to the microsoft default detection of AOL.
  • Also I moved 3gb of old AOL mail onto my local machine in an attempt to eliminate the error. All that did was change "following: 1080" to "following 2"
  • Note that this problem appears to be a common complaint with no real solution.
  • The correlation of the popup with the "folder [800CCCD2-0-0-560]", which I can't correlate with the folders I see on AOL calls into question whether their is really a bad message or not.
  • scanpst.exe was run and does NOT fix this error.  It did however claim to find errors, but did not inform as to their nature.

-> error message doesn't contain enough information to let you find the bad message or folder.

-> no option to "suppress the dialog popup" so you aren't barraged with messages that perhaps should only be displayed in the sync log.

-> there are so many "non-professional" red-herring opinions that you can't find the solution in the forest.

-> could be helpful to have a unique place where only solutions are posted.

I noticed in the sync log these messages which seem to correlate with the above dialog box.  The first log message:

10:55:04 Synchronizer Version 15.0.4569.1505

10:55:04 Synchronizing Mailbox 'xyz@aol.com'

10:55:04 Synchronizing Hierarchy

10:55:04                  1 folder(s) updated in online store

10:55:08 Synchronizing local changes in folder 'Inbox'

11:16:13                  846 item(s) added to offline folder

11:16:13 Error synchronizing folder

11:16:13                                [800CCCD2-0-0-560]

11:16:13 Done

........The latest log message:

18:14:21 Synchronizer Version 15.0.4641.1000

18:14:21 Synchronizing Mailbox 'xyzl@aol.com'

18:14:22 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Drafts'

18:14:29 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Inbox'

18:14:35 Error synchronizing folder

18:14:35                                [800CCCD2-0-0-560]

18:14:35 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Saved'

18:14:37 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'SavedIMs'

18:14:37 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Temp'

18:14:39 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Notebook'

18:14:39 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Sent'

18:14:43 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Trash'

18:14:45 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Spam'

18:14:47 Done

The last recommendation of setting the root folder to Inbox appears to be a bad thing

to do since it makes your sent messages disappear in outlook.  It also has no effect making the sync error go away..

Recommendation "Uninstall the recent updates (KB2837618 or KB2837643)" seems irrelevant since I see no Office/Outlook updates installed on this new system.

Colleagues are getting strange headers, no ability to accept meeting invitations on client, only OWA

$

Hello everyone,

I am having a very strange problem after migrating a companies Exchange server to Office365 / cloud based Exchange.

When sending out invitations for meetings, everyone is able to receive and view the message properly.  One of my colleagues, using Outlook 2010 with email setup as a POP account (It is an exchange account, but there another exchange account on the PC as well) is having trouble viewing and accepting meeting invitations.   However in OWA, the invitations are being added and listed in the calendar, but not syncing to Outlook (I assume this is because it is setup as POP.

When I send him an email with a meeting invitation, this is what he sees;

Microsoft Outlook Web Access: <Link Removed>

To receive meeting invitations as .iCalendar attachments instead of Outlook Web App links, go to <Link Removed>  and select Send meeting invitations in iCalendar format.

I removed the links myself for a couple of reasons.

The problem is only present on his setup (afaik) and is persistent with every meeting invite.  The header itself is not the problem, the true problem is that he cannot accept the invitation or see notifications of the invitation via Outlook calendar.

I am thinking it may be because he is setup as a POP account.  However this just happened after switching to Office365 based Exchange.  Previously it worked fine (his account was setup as POP previously afaik)

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks,

LDV

Microsoft Outlook has stopped working => Check online for solution... faulting module name msvcr100.dll

Outlook 2010 has stopped working on several PCs and the "disease" is slowly spreading throughout our small company, which is heavily dependent on Outlook. Ten to fifteen seconds after we open OL it displays "MS Outlook has stopped working. Check online... Close program..." I have been researching this for weeks with no solution in sight. Outlook safe no work. Windows 7 boot safe no work. Scanpst no work. (We use Zimbra Connector for Outlook with Zimbra Collaboration Server and, yes, the question has been put to them.) Ran pro versions of AVG and MBAM to no avail.

I will be trying a clean boot procedure and a couple of long-shot remedies, but that's all I have for now. Hoped to get some feedback until I get a chance to use those last ditch "cures."

In all candor, I don't trust MS details pointing to this particular msvcr100.dll as the primary cause, but it's a starting point. And the file is also found in many paths: JRE, Desktop Central, ...msmapi\1033, WinISO, Mozilla Firefox, ad nauseam.

If you need any further information, please advise. Thank you in advance...

Outlook 2010 and Word 2010 Mail Merge to HTML Mail Format Does Not Work

$

I cannot get an e-mail mail merge using HTML Mail Format to work.  I am using Outlook 2010 and Word 2010 on a Windows 7 Professional installation.  I have searched through these forums and Microsoft support and tried all suggestions that I found--KB980681 did not work--error that it was not applicable for my computer.  I have repaired Office, checked my registry entries, and rebooted numerous times.

I tried the mail merge on an Office 2003 installation and it worked as expected.

I checked my Event Viewer Application Log and found Outlook Event ID 27, The operation failed (really???, sorry my frustration is showing).  The Event Log online help does not have any information for this event.

I do not have Front Page installed and Outlook is my default mail program.  I would greatly appreciate any help as this will be an ongoing requirement and all PCs at my business will be using Office 2010 in the near future.

I am current on my updates, including Service Pack 1 for Office.

Thank you.

Prevent Windows Search from indexing PST contents in Outlook

$

Running Windows 8.1 with Windows Search, and Office 2013 with more that 20GB in more than 10 PSTs and OSTs, searching becomes very slow after indexing everything. Reindexing has no change. If I exclude Outlook it's very fast.

There is an option in Outlook search ribbon -> Search Tools -> Locations to search. I removed most of the PSTs (accounting for 75% of the contents), but still ALL PSTs and OSTs get indexed (although they won't be searched).

This makes using Windows Search nearly impossible (e.g. searching using the charm thing takes 30 seconds).

How can I have Windows Search index ONLY the PSTs and OSTs that I specifically want?

Is there any configuration, registry stuff or programatic workaround to exclude from indexing (not searching)?

Thank you.
