I get the following message multiple times when starting outlook:
Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: 2 That mail
is not currently available

I have tried all the suggestions in other threads, like searching for 0 size messages (initially there were none)
and moving all your messages to temp folder and then back to the original folder
which caused all the moved messages to now show a size 0.
- I would like to know how to fix the messages that where moved to the "Temp" folder and back so Outlook 2013 does
not continue to report 0 size messages for messages that are definitely not 0 size!
-
This happened on a brand new install of 2013, and new import of old AOL mail into outlook using the wizard so everything was setup according to the microsoft default detection of AOL.
- Also I moved 3gb of old AOL mail onto my local machine in an attempt to eliminate the error. All
that did was change "following: 1080" to "following 2"
- Note that this problem appears to be a common complaint with no real solution.
- The correlation of the popup with the "folder [800CCCD2-0-0-560]",
which I can't correlate with the folders I see on AOL calls into question whether their is really a bad message or not.

scanpst.exe was run and does NOT fix this error. It did however claim to find errors, but did not inform as to their nature.
-> error message doesn't contain enough information to let you find the bad message or folder.
-> no option to "suppress the dialog popup" so you aren't barraged with messages that perhaps should only be displayed in the sync log.
-> there are so many "non-professional" red-herring opinions that you can't find the solution in the forest.
-> could be helpful to have a unique place where only solutions are posted.
I noticed in the sync log these messages which seem to correlate with the above dialog box. The first log message:
10:55:04 Synchronizer Version 15.0.4569.1505
10:55:04 Synchronizing Mailbox 'xyz@aol.com'
10:55:04 Synchronizing Hierarchy
10:55:04 1 folder(s) updated in online store
10:55:08 Synchronizing local changes in folder 'Inbox'
11:16:13 846 item(s) added to offline folder
11:16:13 Error synchronizing folder
11:16:13 [800CCCD2-0-0-560]
11:16:13 Done
........The latest log message:
18:14:21 Synchronizer Version 15.0.4641.1000
18:14:21 Synchronizing Mailbox 'xyzl@aol.com'
18:14:22 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Drafts'
18:14:29 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Inbox'
18:14:35 Error synchronizing folder
18:14:35 [800CCCD2-0-0-560]
18:14:35 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Saved'
18:14:37 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'SavedIMs'
18:14:37 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Temp'
18:14:39 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Notebook'
18:14:39 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Sent'
18:14:43 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Trash'
18:14:45 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Spam'
18:14:47 Done
The last recommendation of setting the root folder to
Inbox appears to be a bad thing
to do since it makes your sent messages disappear in
outlook. It also has no effect making the sync error go away..

Recommendation "Uninstall the recent updates (KB2837618 or KB2837643)" seems irrelevant since I see no Office/Outlook updates
installed on this new system.
