Outlook 2016 Autodiscover keep finding an account on live.com

Hi there,

I have Exchange server with SRV record published on the subject domain. After last update of Office (16.0.11001.20064) an Outlook is unable to find this Exchange account.

Even if I:

-tried to disable Autodiscover methods in Outlook/Autodiscover registry via( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2212902/unexpected-autodiscover-behavior-when-you-have-registry-settings-under)

-manually select the Exchange account type when adding a new account

It keeps connecting to the outlook.live.com service that is having the same username as the Exchange account.

Do anyone knows how to get rid of that?

Categories in outgoing e-mail

I updated to Outlook 365 and now when I categorize incoming e-mail, if I respond or forward, the category does not get added automatically to the outgoing e-mail. In a previous versión I managed to solve the problema by changing the registry (see https://www.msoutlook.info/question/41). But this solution does not seem to work with Outlook 365. Any ideas?

Encrypted / Secure E-mail not working after update from 1709 to 1809

Hello :-). 

I have Office 365 Business, and after updating my Office program from build 1709 to 1809 Encrypted / Secure E-mails are no longer working. I can sent Encrypted / Secure E-mails, but the receiver cant open my E-mail, and i can not open my E-mail in "Sent E-mail" folder. 

I could open the E-mails i sent in build 1709, and the people that i sent too, could also open the mails, but after the upgrade, we can`t open them anymore ?.

Outlook hangs when forwarding an email with an image file attached

I have a large number of Outlook 2016 clients that are seeing an issue where when they click the forward button on a email that has an image file attached (jpg, png) the Outlook client hangs/locks up completely for about 3 seconds. 

I ran Process Monitor to see what it is doing in those 3 seconds and the last thing that is displayed before the 3 second gap is the OST file for that user.  I wiped out the OST file, allowed it to rebuild and the hang is gone.  The next day it was happening again.  

The size of the image file doesn't appear to make any difference.  Other file types arn't affected though.  PDFs for example work fine.  

Any ideas?

  

After Office 365 update to Office 2019, Outlook prompts for password

Hi,

Hopefully someone can help with this one.

After an update form O365, Outlook keeps on prompting for a password after a restart. The OS is Windows 10 1809 and is connecting to on premise Exchange 2013. The user only has apps from Office 365

I suspected that Outlook was trying to connect to Office 365 instead of the on premise Exchange. I followed advice to change the registry to disable Outlook going to Office 365 first:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover]
"ExcludeExplicitO365Endpoint"=dword:00000001

This change has not worked

I have tried removing Outlook credentials from Credential manager but still the problem persists.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Pressing the Tab key in Outlook does not cycle between fields and delete key functionality issues.

A client of mine has been having intermittent issues with Outlook for about a year now. Currently there will be times where in the Compose message section, instead of the TAB key cycling between the various fields, it will tab over in the same field like an indent.

Also, the client uses the delete key to remove inline text in new email messages and as he holds it, it will start deleting text like it should but then it closes the message at random and sends it to the draft folder. This issue has caused the most problems since it disrupts his business processes. All of these issues are happening in Outlook 2016.

These are the steps we have taken thus far:

  • Remove the outlook profile and re-add it
  • Reset Office defaults
  • Tried installing 64-bit instead of 32-bit
  • Verified account settings server side
  • Ran Outlook as an admin
  • Even went to the extreme of swapping the computer just to test and the issue still existed

Any help would be appreciated since this has kind of been a frustrating issue for the client.

email reset issue

I have a constant problem with all my Outlook mailboxes. I need to click all around my different mailboxes to get my messages to reappear. They disappear from view but still list as 232 items (or whatever the count is) in the bottom left message count. It's so frustrating. I'm getting ready to remove Outlook from my system completely. I'm at a total loss. This is interfering with my ability to do business.

Please advise.

Email messages not in sync among different profile locations

I find that opening Outlook 2016 (Office 365 Exchange) and deleting an email message does not cause that message to be deleted from a different PC, when I have Outlook 2016 loaded and configured as the same user.  Both have the setting of cache set the same why with the same amount of offline cache set.  It seems incoming and outgoing messages work fine across different devices, all set to use Outlook with the same user, but deleted items do not show as deleted across those same devices, no matter how long I wait or how many times I close and reopen Outlook.  Related to this, I find one of the devices shows junk mail in the junk mail folder, and the other device does not.  This is all with the same user.  

Can you offer any suggestions?

[Knowledge sharing] How to dismiss reminders for past events

Outlook reminders benefit us a lot by letting us know a scheduled event is about to start. But sometimes, it may be a little annoying to receive pop up of reminders for old events. For instance, if you're out of the office for three days, you might not want to come back and see reminders for the meetings that took place while you were gone.

Recently, a new feature which allows us to tell Outlook to automatically dismiss reminders for past events has been released to Version 1810 of Office for Windows for Office 365 subscribers to Monthly Channel. If the new feature is available to you, you can select this option when you don't want to see reminders for events in the past:

1. Select File > Options > Advanced.
2. In the Reminders section, select Automatically dismiss reminders for past events.

    In some occasions, we may encounter the issue that reminders keep returning after being dismissed. See the threads below for discussion about issues of this kind:

      [Symptoms]:
      Reminders cannot be successfully dismissed, or they keep returning after being dismissed.

      [Cause]:
      The reminder folder or the reminder view is corrupted.

      [Possible solutions]:
      Method 1: Run the Cleanreminders switch

      1. Close Outlook.
      2. Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog. Typeoutlook /cleanreminders in the field, press Enter. (Make sure you have a space between Outlook and the slash.)

      Method 2: Delete the appointment

      If the cleanreminders switch doesn’t work, please look for the appointment associated with the problematic reminder in your calendar and delete it.

      Method 3: Use MFCMAPI to delete the reminder folder

      1. Download MFCMAPI from github (scroll down and then click Latest release).
      2. Exit Outlook, run MFCMAPI.
      3. On the Tools menu, click Options, select both of the following check boxes (if they're not already selected), and then click OK:

      • Use the MDB_ONLINE flag when calling OpenMsgStore
      • Use the MAPI_NO_CACHE flag when calling OpenEntry

      4. Go to SessionLogon, select the profile that you want to change, and then click OK.
      5. Double-click the mailbox store that you want to open.
      6. Expand Root Container (or Root-Mailbox), right-click theReminders folder, and then click Delete folder.


      Note: Do not delete the individual items inside the Reminders folder. The Reminders folder is just a view of upcoming events on the calendar. If the items inside the folder are deleted, those items will be removed from the calendar.

      7. Run the Outlook.exe /cleanreminders or Outlook.exe /ResetFolders command line. (This step re-creates the Reminders folder and adds any valid entries back in.)

        Email stored on Server

        I have Outlook 365. M provider is Earthlink. My problem is I cannot find a switch I used to have in Outlook.  I do not wish to leave emails on the Earthlink server, but the old switch that removed my email once downloaded is gone.  The closest I find is in my preferences.  But that switch can only help me by leaving 30 days of mail on the server.

        How can I set outlook to remove emails from the server once downloaded to my laptop?

        Hi Guys

        So, I need to setup some conditional formatting rules in Outlook (2016) for calendar entries however, I can only seem to find a way to set a colour whereas, I have a fairly long list of existing categories. I need the conditional formatting rule to be able to set an existing category!

        Anyone got any clues?

        Email Signature Not Saving

        I update my work email signature often with the date that I will be out of the office, but it seems like every time I close out for the day and come back the next day, the signature did not save. Sometimes this works just fine and will stay but the last few days I have had to correct the signature every morning when I log in to my computer. What do I need to do different?

        How to delete expired items?

        Hi,

         

        We use Office 2016 with Office 365. One user keeps getting a reminder for an expired item. I searched the user mailbox and couldn't find the item. I opened the reminder and couldn't find the organizer. See the image below.

        Where should I go to delete this item or turn off the reminder? I need help!

        Local Contacts from GAL disappear after a few seconds.

        When we pull records from our GAL for users in 1 specific email domain and save them as local contacts, the records automatically disappear after a few seconds. We have a Trust/GalSync/Free Busy relationship with this other domain and we have also configured Exchange to treat this partner domain as internal, as messages exchanged between both organizations go over a Site to Site VPN. We have 2 other organizations that we have this same configuration with, but they do not exhibit the same behavior.

        To reproduce:

        Go to GAL, go to record: user@domain1.com and save contact locally and it appears for a few seconds and then disappears. There is nothing in the Deleted Items folder to show that it has been deleted.

        I've put my Outlook into Offline Mode and then performed the same steps and the record stays until I reconnect again, and then it deletes the contact after a few seconds.

        As a workaround, I can add the contact in OWA just fine and the record does not get deleted from Outlook.

        Nothing worthwhile from logs, and I can't decode the ETL file for better logging, so I thought I'd try here.

        This is Outlook 2013 running on Windows 10, Exchange 2016 SP5

        Does Outlook Auto-Complete cache distribution group members? or just the email address?

        I can't seem to find this answer anywhere on the web, so I'm just trying to confirm here.  If we disable a user account and remove them from their distribution groups, does the auto-complete cache within everyone's outlook update, or not even contain this data to begin with?

        Gmail blocking outlook (asks for password)

        Hi all.

        Sorry my bad english im from Denmark. Im working at a IT company but this i simply cant figure out. 

        I asked on the google forum but no help there. I also tryed 2 outher forums so i really hope you can help.

        My wife's father got a new pc. Windows 10 with office 2016.

        He uses Gmail and using IMAP to outlook.

        I has been working for about 1-2 months.

        He uses 2-step verfication in gmail so i use app passwords.

        One day he called me and told me that Outlook asks for password but he has tryed with he "normal" password with no luck.

        Okay then i just tryed with a new app password from Gmail but it keeps asking for new password.

        I have been google like hell and i think it is Gmail blocking hes Outlook. Becourse when i use

        https://accounts.google.com/b/0/DisplayUnlockCaptcha 

        Then it works. But after a reboot it asks for password again! Grrrr.

        I tryed

        1: Reinstall Office

        2: Clear all password i windows 10 (in control panel)

        3: Turning off 2-step verfication

        4: Turn on 2-step verification and rewoke all app passwords and know devices and then signing out of gmail and in again (And turn on "dont ask on this device again)

        5: Clear all mailboxes and profiles.

        6: Use outher settings for the outgoing server (Outher port and DTLS i think)

        The only thing i havent tryed is to turn off 2-step verification and then change heis password.

        Please help!

        After Cisco Jabber install - Outlook 2013 users do not show status from skype or online status.

        Recently in company there was cisco jabber installation , after the installation odd thing has occured so far just one user skyp for business is install 2015 and office 2013.  it occurs in outlook where the user sends email or replies to and the contact that he is sending too does not show Online status green , away or DND for any user he sends too. so far have troubleshooted the below

        checked the registry key for 

        ome times the Outlook is taking the information from another application for ex:Cisco Jabber , to resolve this issue you need to go to regedit and track the below path:

        HKCU/Software/IM Providers -->DefaultIMApp --> Change the Value to Lync.

        * then close the Outlook and re-open it again.

        this was already set to Lync 

        Also checked the option in outlook under people to show status that is already checked. 

        i am out of options on this one not sure what occured.. tried to also unistall jabber that didnt work either.

        Folders moving on Folder Pane

        This is a very complicated issue to explain but here goes. When I click on either the Deleted items folder or the Junk email folder they switch place in the folder pane and the selected folder is not always shown, requiring a second click. I am using office 2013 Pro Plus with Exchange settings.

        Hi

        I am using Microsoft Office 2016 Home & Business Edition, from last one month i am getting error while configuring Exchange account "Your mailbox has been temporarily moved on Microsoft exchange server ..... you cannot send or receive email messages." and there are three option available in small windows are 1. Use Temporary mailbox  2. Use Old Data 3. Cancel

        If i click on 1st option its shows me my Microsoft outlook mailbox but actually i configured my official mailbox, it that because off my official mail account id and Microsoft outlook mail id are same?

        But from last 8-9 months i am using same id as official id and if i used the same Mail id in windows 10 default Mail app its working properly. i try troubleshooting steps, first i remove Microsoft login from my windows 10 PC then i try with fresh office 2016 installation and create new profile also i try to rename my outlook profile from registry ... but still problem not resolved.

        Kindly help me to resolve this issue
