Outlook does not reuse Internet Explorer window in another virtual desktop

Hello

I'm using Windows 10 virtual desktops and have Internet Explorer and Outlook open in two different desktops. https://www.howtogeek.com/197625/how-to-use-virtual-desktops-in-windows-10/

When I open a link in outlook (for example www.microsoft.com) the already existing internet explorer window in the other virtual desktop is not reused. A new window for internet explorer will be created on the virtual desktop where outlook is located, this windows is then reused if more links are opened (and as long as the window stays in the outlook virtual dekstop and is not moved to another).

Furthermore I have also noticed that Outlook "forgets" the Internet Explorer window it created after some time, opening a link then results in yet another new window.

I have tested opening links from the File Browser, and links are opened in the already existing internet explorer window in a different virtual desktop, so you could say that Outlook is misbehaving. I have also tried with Edge, same behavior.

I would like the already existing internet explorer window to be reused when I open links from Outlook. Is this possible to accomplish?

I'm in an enterprise environment, updating to new versions of software is not that easy, sorry.

Software:
Windows 10 Enterprise, version 1703, OS Build 15063.1868
Internet Explorer 11 (version 11.1868.15063.0, "update versions" 11.0.130)
Outlook 2016 MSO 16.0.4849.1000 32bit (Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016)

On Premise Exchange User not able to view free/busy information of O365 user

Hi all,

We are having a problem that some of our Premise Exchange user is not able to view free/busy information of O365 users.

Not all of our on premise users have this issue, only some of them. This issue only happened on Outlook 2013 client, it has no issue at all when user access with Outlook Web Access via browser. For PC experience this problem. We create another user profile in this PC and test, the result is same. It seems that this is PC related problem, we suspect it is related to Office/Windows patch level. Moreover, this issue is only one direction from on premise  Exchange user -->O365 user while O365 user can view free/busy of on premise Exchange user without any problem.

Do anyone experience this kind of problem before and any solution to it ?

PC Windows version : Windows 7 64 bit

Office version : Office 2013 32 bit and 64 bit

Exchange version : Exchange 2010 & O365 (Hybrid Exchange Environment).

Export "Quick STEPS" from Outlook

I have several users that are wanting to export their "Quick STEPS" (not to be confused with "Quick PARTS") but I cannot find anyway to make this happen.  I have tried MFCMAPI but it doesn't export anything.


There is no data in the table.  Any ideas?

Recurring Events showing 1 day earlier on app

When entering recurring events on outlook calendar they show up correct on computer and then syncing with iPhone, the events show up correct the first week and then one day early every week after that. I have tried multiple calendars/apps and it is the same issue.

How to Repair Database .pst file of MS Outlook?

I am unable to open my Outlook file due to corruption how to repair database .pst file of MS outlook. I was using Microsoft Outlook 2007 from last 2 years and everything is going well. But suddenly I have got an error message “outlook data file cannot be accessed ” while accessing PST file. It was also suggested me to run scanpst.exe tool. I had tried to repair my inaccessible PST file many times with the help of Inbox repair tool.  But this utility is unable to solve my issue, please suggest me how can I repair my corrupted database.pst file without losing any information. Is there any way to restore all information from inaccessible PST file into new PST file to continue working as previously?

Outlook 2016 Unable to turn off recent items

After upgrading to office 2016, I now have a list of "Recent Items" under the attachment button.

According to the "help" for outlook 2016, I can adjust the number displayed in settings by the following steps:
File->Options->Advanced->Display : change the value in "Show this number of Recent Documents"

unfortunately when I follow these steps, the only option available under Display is

"Disable hardware graphics acceleration"

Since I will NEVER attach a "recent item" to a new email and I will always need to browse to a specific location for a file, I need to be able to set this value to zero.

How do I now do so in outlook 2016 ?

All HTML emails in PST files rendered as Plain Text after last Office update

The latest office 365 update (1906 Build 1172.20210) will no longer render emails in (in the PST file) as HTML . All are displayed as plain text.  Furthermore, when composing an email in HTML it appears to be fine, but it is actually sent as plain text.  The copy in the "sent" folder is plain text and the recipient receives a plain text email. 

Similarly if I compose a new email as HTML then save as a draft, then double click the draft it now shows as plain text.

The PST file has NOT been corrupted because if I transfer it to a PC running the previous office build 1905 11629.20246 (ie I haven't yet applied the latest update from yesterday) all HTML emails in the PST file render correctly.  

This definitely started with the latest office updated (released a day ago).  As I have multiple PCs running outlook (2xwind 10; 1x win 8.1) I tested with the previous version of outlook before the update, (no problems), ran office update, then tested again (now a problem).  To eliminate any account-specific causes, I tested on another user's PC with a separate (complete unrelated) office 365 account.  Same problem.

I also rolled back to version 1905 11629.2024 (ie June 11th) using the Office Deployment Tool on a PC which previously have the latest update  (1906 Build 1172.20210) and this fixed the problem. This proves conclusively that the problem was caused by the office update to build 1906 Build 1172.20210.

We are not using exchange; all emails are held in a PST file.  No settings have changed in outlook and for 20+ years all HTML emails have rendered correctly. As noted above ALL emails (80,000+) are affected -- they all now render as plain text.  

Basically it's impossible to view or send formatted emails containing tables, pictures etc. as all emails are converted to plain text.

Ongoing Outlook Connection Issues to Exchange Server 2016

Hello,

I am supporting a client who has an on-premise Exchange 2016 server and is having Outlook connection issues for the past 10 months.  So far I have had no luck with Microsoft Support.  The company I work for is a Microsoft Partner.  There are 2 users having this issue, but other users do not use Outlook as often as the owners so there could be more. 

The clients Outlook 2016 disconnects at random times.  An Outlook Offline notification appears in the bottom right hand corner. Accessing Public Folders or Sending/Receiving is not possible.  Restating Outlook numerous times does not force a connection.  It seems to reconnect on it's own.  Once sending and receiving is possible, Public Folders can remain inaccessible for extended periods of time.

We have upgraded the users PC's  and installed the latest version of Office Professional 2016 with the latest Office (Office 16.0.42661.1001) and Windows (Windows 10) updates.  Exchange 2016 has been patched with the latest Cumulative Update.  Despite replacing the PC's, we have cleared their Outlook profiles, PST and OST files. Disabling Cache Mode is of no benefit, we have also tried re-profiling the users.  PC has has the latest BIOS update.

Understandably, the users have had enough of fault finding but wants the problem fix.  I have enabled Outlook logging and below is the the only code with errors in the OPMLog.log file. I am not sure what to look for in the other log files. 

Any help on resolving this problem would be most appreciated.

Outlook 2016 Blocking PDF and PPTX files

This issue follows the user to other PC's. On his PC I added the registry bypass keys but these file types are not blocked by default anyhow and that change did not help. He can open the files with OWA. You can see screenshots of the blocked files below. His mailbox is hosted on O365. Most of the "solutions" I can find involve the registry changes I already made. Is anyone aware of other things that might cause this? BTW: I do not see extra ... in the filename either.  Any ideas?

In the outlook agenda you can make rows with all days appointments, after 5 rows you get a arrow down.

but we want to see also the 6th and 7th row also if we want, without the arrow down.

First of all, sorry for my English that is not as good as i like it to be.

1. I have created a custom form in Outlook (WITHOUT VBA, just by using form Tools in Outlook) to create new contact.

Is there a way to use it on an android mobile device ?

2. Is there a way to create a combo box with values depending of the choice made in another combox box WITHOUT VBA.

Sendgrid email parsing not working properly on Outlook desktop

I am using sendgrid inbound email parsing. I send out custom emails to my users with hidden fields and css. It works on website and ios app but it is not reflected on desktop app. When someone reply to email, I don't get hidden fields in response.It is working for ios and website but not for desktop. when I go to view page source then I can see the code but it not reflected in the view nor does it come it the response.<input type="hidden" name="companySubdomain" value="<%= @company%>" title="companySubdomain">

I have such fields embedded in my email.

It helps me process the response when someone replies

but unfortunately with outlook desktop app I don't get these fields in response

also I added a class on span

even that is not reflected

default setting in junk email release

Hello,

a right-click on junk emails in the junk mail folder allows me to move non-junk emails back to the main outlook inmail folder. Unfortunately the checkbox in the corresponding window (never treat messages from xxx as junk mail; in German below) is always on by default. Is there any possibility to instruct outlook (I use Ouktlook 2016) to open this window with unchecked box by default. I could not find any option in the outlook options, but it could be that there is a registry setting available?

Spell check intermittently not working

HI,

I haver a customer with an issue with outlook spellchecker. Basically sometimes it does not work. Even when there is a miss spelt word in it and you spell check it says complete no errors. This doesn't happen with all the emails and you can reply to the same message that had the issue and the next time its fine.

I have done the following

1. Created a new profile

2. Removed office and reinstalled

3. Added English US to the languages (main language is English UK)

4. Remove all traces of the outlook folder so it rebuilds.

Its office 365 business (2016).

Spell checker works fine in other office apps.

Any suggestions welcome.

Outlook Search - Something went wrong and your search couldn't be completed

In Outlook 2016 I have multiple users that can't search Outlook using the current mailbox selection, they get the error 'Something went wrong and your search couldn't be completed' but if they select current folder to perform the search from then it works fine. I think all the users with the problem have Windows 10 64bit 180.

Hi,

In Outlook 2016 my emails are not readable within the reading pane which requires me to scroll right on many of my email messages.  I have tried setting IE as my default web browser and opening the webpage and it worked briefly but went back to the wide message format.  The most recent conversation on this issue was in 2015 so hoping to learn of a better solution.  My resolution is 1600x900 and OS Windows 10.  Any advice is appreciated!

Outlook: Failed to update Headers

I am using Office 2010, and outlook for my email needs.

My internet provider is Spectrum, and they instructed me to use IMAP server. I followed their instructions and it has been working for the last couple of years, but it stopped working for incoming mails (outgoing seems to be working). 

When I opens Outlook 2010, and the following message appears; 

failed update headers/IMAP command failed/Protocol:IMAP/server: mail.charter.net/Port:993

What would be the solution here? I asked Spectrum for this issue, and they insist that this is not their issue, but Microsoft. however, the test message from Microsoft does show up when I access Spectrum Web Mail, but it does not show on Outlook 2010 Inbox.
