User has issue of Fonts changing randomly Outlook 365 latest build

$

Hello,

We have a user that is using a Microsoft Surface 1796 with Windows 10 profession and a standalone Office 365 suite. He is using his Surface with a docking station and 2 monitors. He notices that quite often his font (size and type) will change on his different office suite software (Outlook, Excel, etc). He said it will happen even while using the program without restarting or doing anything to trigger it. It makes for a frustrating time when he all of a sudden cannot read his folder pane or other aspects of his Outlook session because the font has changed and become smaller then usual. This also affects his Excel files as well where the size seems to change to something smaller than he is used to.

We are not able to lock down these settings and do not know what the cause is but I am hoping someone here might be able to shed some light onto the situation. I know the option to change the font size of the folder pane was removed so I cannot make it any bigger but surely there must be a way to lock all the fonts so they stop changing randomly.

Thank you.

Outlook 2016 - Incoming Mail Delays

$

We have an account using Outlook 2016 with Intermedia Hosted Exchange.  Several users experience significant delays receiving incoming email.  Emails hit their phones (Activesync) and OWA immediately but may not show up in Outlook for minutes and sometimes hours later.  There is no pattern to the length of the delay.  When emails do come in, it is common that multiple emails will come in at the same time. If the user exits Outlook and re-launches, that tends to cause emails to be received.

We have rebuilt user profiles and tried adjusting the retention period in cached mode settings.  The site has a terminal server for remote access and the problem is exhibited there as well, so that tends to rule out the actual workstations.

We have other sites running Outlook 2016 with Intermedia hosted Exchange and the other users at the problem site are not reporting this - just two users (and they are the heaviest users).

Any ideas will be appreciated!

How to stop 'FROM' in email header column from changing to 'TO'?

My farthest left email column header has always been 'FROM'.  Recently it arbitrarily changes to 'TO' so if I'm copied on an email it sorts by the person who is the main recipient vs. the sender.  I don't want this; I want it to sort by 'FROM', or the original sender.  How can I stop this from happening?

Receiving prompt in Outlook for Office 365 "You have changed this message. If you save the changes, the message will no longer be digitally signed. Do you want to save your changes?"

Hello ,

We've been receiving a prompt in Outlook  for Office 365  16.0.11929.20234 "You have changed this message. If you save the changes, the message will no longer be digitally signed. Do you want to save your changes?" , whenever replying to a digitally signed message. Cannot find a solution to this to stop this prompt , it started happening to users in the middle of last month. Does anyone know what might have caused this ?

Thanks!

Moved subfolder from original location

Hi Everyone,

A user within the company has managed to move a subfolder into an area that they cannot seem to remember.

Is there a function or a tracking availability option within outlook or O365 that allows you to view a sort of previous version?

Thanks

How to Fix ‘Outlook Data File cannot be Accessed’ Error

$
0
0

hen MS Outlook is used while connected to the Exchange server, all mailbox data on the server is stored locally in a file called Offline Storage Table (OST) file. This file can be seen as a replica of the user’s Exchange mailbox since it stores all records of the account residing on the server, locally. The main role of this file comes into play if the Exchange server experiences downtime due to technical issues or maintenance. In such cases, the users can continue to work with the OST file locally without interruptions and any changes they make to the account are merged with their Exchange account once the server comes back up.

However, there could be instances where users face errors while trying to access their Exchange mailbox data through the OST file. Such errors might be caused due to faulty synchronization between Outlook and Exchange or due to problems with the OST file. More often than not, problems within the OST file trigger mailbox access errors.

Outlook 2016 not opening on Windows 10 Enterprise connecting to on-premise Exchange 2010 server

Useless context bit: I am currently in the process of replacing Office 2010 across our organisation with Office 2016 standard. We use on-premise Microsoft Exchange 2010 SP3 patched to update rollup 17, and are on a completely isolated network which is not on the Internet. However I have come across a big stumbling block.

The plea for help bit: On our Windows 10 machines, although Office installs fine and runs, Outlook 2016 does not open. I can open Outlook, the various fields are autocompleted and I get the 3 ticks and confirmation the email account was configured and is ready for use. Outlook then starts to load but immediately fails with the message "cannot start microsoft outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window.  The set of folders cannot be opened. The file c:\users\xxx\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook\xxx@domain.internal.ost is not an outlook data file (.ost)."

SO, when I look at the .ost in question it is zero bytes in size. So I modify the profile using the Mail tool in control panel and disable cached mode. When loading outlook this time I now get the error "cannot start microsoft outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to Microsoft exchange has failed".

WHen I install Office 2016 on a Windows 7 Pro machine, Outlook connects and opens just file, so it seems for whatever reason Outlook 2016 just won't open on Windows 10.

I have checked (as far as I can) that autodiscover is configured and working properly. DNS is working properly and I can resolve the autodiscover and hostnames of our Exchange server from affected machines.

Things I have tried so far unsuccessfully:

Rebooted Exchange server

Starting Outlook in safe mode

Run outlook with DefConnectOps = 0 regkey enabled

Starting outlook with the resetnavpane option
Running outlook in Compatibility mode
Running outlook with the RPC fallback registry key enabled
Running SFC /Scannow (even though these are fresh builds)

Making sure client PC has "dummy" default gateway set (we are air gapped from the Internet so any IP can be used)

Detach and re-attaching the mailbox of an affected user

Created a brand new user with a fresh mailbox
Used a fresh install of Windows 10 Enterprise x64 (we are using LTSB 2015 version) -not domain joined, no group policies applied, no Antivirus, tried both unpatched and patched on a hyper-v VM with nothing but NIC drivers.

I have enabled extended outlook logging but when I try opening the .ETL files generated there doesn't appear to be any verbose, just informational error codes

I have googled the hell out of this issue and although there are similar errors, none of which seem to relate to this specific issue I'm having.
As I say, the only commonality I can see is some issue with Windows 10.

Would really appreciate any pointers.. thanks chaps!

Outlook online calendar will no longer print anything but monthly view

My online users can't print their calendars anymore. The print preview just shows up as a date heading with no calendar items. Monthy will populate with items, but is not really a useful view to print.

September 17 2019 our outlook 2016 started asking for password.

September 17 2019 our outlook 2016 started  asking for password. we have an on site exchange 2016 w/ server 2016. Outlooks loads, after it connects to the server it starts working as usual within a couple of minutes the microsoft login screen pops up asking for password. It will not accept the password. or says account does not exist.  we "x" out click on "needs password" at bottom of outlook screens outlook then works normal for a few minutes then it starts all over again.

No changes were made to exchange or office just microsoft updates.  4 out of 8 outlook 2016 users at office have the problem all started on the same day.. The password and accounts are valid. We can log on to owa without a problem.

Outlook OTW - ask where to save sent messages.

Hello

Is it possible to configure Outlook on the Web to prompt where sent messages should be saved? I don't want a Sent folder that contains everything I have sent as this will prove to be a nightmare in the future when trying find messages.

Ideally, I would like to see a dialog that asks which folder the sent message should be saved to.

Thanks

Error message in Outlook 365: "Cannot move the items."

$

Using Windows 10 64 bits and Office 365 32 bits.

I have a rule in Outlook to move repetitive messages to a specific folder within my own inbox. I receive like 30 of these e-mails every day so it´s pretty annoying.

This used to work just fine and I do have other rules setup which are all working fine. They all follow pretty much the same logic. Applies to incoming messages from specific user and sent to specific audience with specific words in the subject. Mark as read and move to a folder. All rules are moving e-mails to different sub-folders within my own Inbox. They all work except for these e-mails.

The rule fails (Cannot move to the "XXXX" folder) and then if I try to move them manually I get the error described in the title. I tried to create a new folder and redirect the rule to that one... but the same thing happens.

We don´t use PSTs in my company anymore. This is a folder in my mailbox.

The e-mails are not tagged as private, both sensitivity and importance are normal. No read receipt, no delivery receipt. They do have attachments (just 1kb txt file).

EDIT: If I move these e-mails to a different folder it does work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Wanted: Step-by-Step Instructions to Merge PST Files

Every time I buy a new PC I accumulate a PST file when I install the latest revision of Outlook whose user interface really could use a refresh for Sales and Marketing purposes.  So, somebody, please be very clear and concise.  I know Outlook's export and import functions can be used to merge PST #1 AND PST #2 to make PST #3.   Also explain how the designers decided NOT to put Contacts into the PST file.  Finally,  why is there no means to export and import email account configuration settings?  Silly me.

PC running windows 10 pro with office 2016.

After week end or (2 days non use) Outlook fails to launch for viewing. In the task manager it shows outlook running but we have no desktop view.  The application does not open to see the outlook client, the balance of office 2016 word excel etc. all launch and can be used.

I have uninstalled from control panel, i have uninstalled using Msft uninstall. When reinstalled again outlook 2016 works until 2 days not in use. The reinstall works as does both the local and on-line repair tool, i also have to end process to perform repairs. Once again though something causes outlook to not be able to be viewed despite it showing it is running.

I also have made sure its installed in the control panel, under programs.

We have this occur on both Dell pcs, identical units with outlook 2016.

rule error on forwarding mails with empty subject

Hi,
when forwarding mails in Outlook 2013/2016 by an automatic rule for an IMAP account, this rule leads to an error and stops working, when handling mails without subject.
This is reproducable on different machines with different accounts.
Mails with no subject will not be delivered, all other mails pass the rule fine.
Testrule is simple: "forward all incoming mails to xxx@yyy.com".
Tested on Win10 with Outlook 2013/2016, both fully patched/updated.
Any chance that this will be fixed?
Which is the proper way to pass this Info to Microsoft?

However, the limit of 256 bytes of rule makes me unable to creating new rules.

How to solve this problem?

Thank you very much.

I'm a home user trying to comply with Comcast's requirement to update my account settings to outgoing server 587 (already done) and TLS, or SSL if TLS isn't available.

I'm using POP3. The server is already on 587, but I can't make the encryption change stick. It's on STARTTLS, when I try to save the change to SSL/TLS I consistently get the message "Something went wrong and Outlook couldn't save your account settings."
