Can you disable the OST file in the registry for Outlook 2013? We are using Citrix XenDesktop 5.6 and want it disabled in my default user profile. Currently in Outlook 2010 we are using the NoOst dword 2 vaule to disable but this isn't working for Outlook 2013.

thanks for the help.

Disable Outlook 2010 shared calendar notifications (only shared, not all of them)

Hi,

I have some users with a few shared calendars and one of them is receiving reminders from some of the shared calendars, not all of them.

I want to disable all the shared calendar reminders BUT keep her calendar reminders active (so the File->Options->Advanced->uncheck “show reminders” option doesn't work).

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Error synchronizing folders in Outlook 2010

I have an IMAP account set up on Outlook 2010 using Windows Vista and every so often (not all the time), I get the following message:
Task 'Synchronizing subscribed folders for email@address.com.' reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Outlook cannot synchronize subscribed folders for email@address.com. Error: Cannot connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
I thought it may be my McAfee anti-virus, but I disabled the firewall and continued to get the message. This error doesn't always pop up and the folders do sync most of the time. It's only sometimes I get this error. Any idea what is the cause and how to resolve? Thanks.

Shared Task List

Hello

I work for a hospital and we use a microsoft exchange server and have Outlook 2010.  In a job share position, we developed a task list to communicate job responsiblities and updates.  The person that owned the task list has left the company and transferred the task list to our supervisor.  The problem is my supervisor is having difficulty allowing others to have full responsibilities to the task list.  She has made us all owners of the task list, but we are unable to modify items as we originally did when we had a shared task list with the original owner.

Any suggestions?

Outlook 2013 Contacts Merged Incorrectly

$

Recently updated an Office 365 user from Outlook 2010 to 2013. Afterwards, user noticed pictures he had assigned to certain contacts were now showing for the wrong contacts. When we look at the details of an example user who has the wrong picture, we see there are multiple entries under "View Source", and that contact information from another individual have been merged with this individual. Interestingly, it only happens with contacts who had pictures assigned to them and are in the same mail domain - all other contacts from the same mail domain who also had a picture have their contact information merged with this one. See screenshot for an example.

I guess my question is, how can I remove the incorrect "Sources" for each of these contacts? Anyone else run into this issue?

Items in shared mailbox are not visible when using cached mode in Outlook 2013

$

Hi all,

When using Outlook 2013 working with the users own mailbox works great, but when a user connects an additional mailbox to its mailbox, this mailbox is shown correctly, but it contains no items. The folder list is shown correctly, but there are no items to be seen.
These users (I have seen it with 3 different users and 2 shared mailboxes already) have full access to these mailboxes (Exchange 2010), but somehow the items aren't shown... When these users turn off cached mode, it works fine and when they use Outlook 2010 it also works fine, but using Outlook 2013 with cached mode will only show their own items and not the items in an additional shared mailbox.

What is the cause of all this?

Kind regards,
Erik

Outlook 2010 Calendar - Meeting Cancellations

$

My office has just recently converted to Outlook 2010. For the most part, the conversion went smooth and people are adapting to the new e-mail program. One of the things that is increasingly causing frustration is the fact that when a meeting originator cancels a meeting, it does not automatically remove the meeting from the invitees calendars. From what I can find on the internet, Outlook 2007 had an option when cancelling a meeting to "cancel and delete from invitee list calendars". Why would Outlook 2010 remove that feature? With the 2010 version, the invitees receive an e-mail, which just junks up the inbox, and each invitee has to click the button "remove from calendar". Why not remove the cancelled meeting from your calendar automatically, or at the very least, have an option that you can turn off or on to "automatically remove cancelled meetings from calendars". It has an option to automatically accept meetings, so why wouldn't there be an option to automatically accept cancelled meetings? It just doesn't make sense. I've played around with the thought of creating a rule and found that I could base a rule on the "Meeting Cancelled" form, but it does not have an option to remove the meeting from my calendar. I could setup the rule to delete the meeting cancellation e-mail...whoopdeedo...that does me alot of good. I haven't been able to find a place either where I can leave my feedback to Microsoft to tell them what an idiotic concept it is to not automatically remove cancelled meetings from a calendar. If anyone has found a way to setup something, or create a script, or setup a rule that will automatically remove cancelled meetings from my calendar, I would greatly appreciate the advice. Thanks.

Recieveing "OnUCAppointmentGetVisible" error in Outlook 2013 (64 bit) - "Custom UI Runtime Error in Lync Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office 2013"

Hi All,

I originally posted this in the MS Support forums (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-outlook/recieveing-onucappointmentgetvisible-error-in/1a40eca2-8cd1-40f1-a92f-cb08f0af6b72), but was directed over here.

I have recently upgraded an installation of Office 2010 to 2013 (both 64 bit) but am now receiving an error which says:

Window Title - "Custom UI Runtime Error in Lync Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office 2013"

An error occured while calling the callback: "OnUCAppointmentGetVisible"

This seem to happen when I initially open a calender entry, and when I close the entry (most only the first time I close the entry).

I did have some developer tools installed for Office 2010 and VS 2010 which played around with Excel,2013 but I have now uninstalled these.

In addition, BCM 2010 was installed (but for the time being has been uninstalled), but I don't think that is the culprit.

The issue is being caused be an Outlook add-in. I have three COM add-in enabled, but the one causing the issue in the "Lync Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office 2013".

We are currently trialling Lync in a demo installation which is in a different domain to any of the Exchange accounts, but should this cause a problem? For the time being I have disable this add-in.

Regards,

Chris

Filter for all emails sent outside your domain or company

How can I do a search/filter for all emails sent to my inbox that are not @mydomain.com. I've tried the advanced with "Doesn't contain *@mydomain.com" etc.. I've also done the Conditional Formatting but that can sometimes provide false positives. Please let me know if this has been accomplished or if you have any suggestions.

Person email is FROM is not linking up with its contact

Not entirely sure how to explain this (luckily I have a screen shot).

A client of ours is frustrated. Sometimes, he will receive an email from someone who is clearly in his contact list. Problem is, the FROM shows up as the persons email, not the contact. So, if he right clicks on the email in the FROM field, it acts like it's a new contact and not in his Contacts list at all.

I have an image, but it says I cannot post it because I'm not verified :(.

Thanks in advance!

Freebusy not publishing with outlook 2013 without exchange.

I have recently installed the new Outlook 2013 on a brand new Lenovo laptop. Most people in the company are using 2010 and use free busy for publishing calenders on a FTP server. We currently do not have exchange server. I set the settings in the free busy options area and put in all the correct information that would be used for setting up free busy. In the dialog box, there is an option to set calender events for a specific number of months.Normally we put 12 months and press ok and exit out. The problem is that once you open the dialog box to check the settings, the months would default to 71 months not allowing you to publish your info to the FTP location. Now, I can see what others are publishing but others cannot see what i am publishing. The default value of 71 months is not even allowed even if you press ok. It says that the publishing length can only be set for 0-36 months. It overwrites itself with 71 months and won't save a different number of months. Is this a bug with new outlook 2013 not being able to publish to a FTP server without having exchange? All the freebusy stuff works fine in outlook 2010. Please help.

Follow-up Flags for additional mailboxes

Environmental Infomation:

  • Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
  • Office 2010 SP1

Problem: In a shared mailbox, when the user clicks the flag icon next to an email, the icon does not change.  In the preview pane, you can see the follow up status change each time you click.

  • Problem occurs when user tries to set a follow up flag on a shared mailbox
  • Problem does not occur for other users accessing the same shared mailbox
  • Problem does not occur in the users own mailbox
  • If the user restarts outlook, the icon will display correctly, however if the user clicks on it again, it does not change.

What I've already tried:

  • Creating a new Outlook profile
  • Removing the mailbox from the users Outlook, then adding it back
  • A rain dance... It did start raining, but that did not help to resolve the issue

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Zak

Items not visible in Cached Exchange Mode Outlook 2013

Outlook 2013, exchange 2010 14.2.247.5. I know it's an older version and I'll update if I need to.

So this is a tough one. I noticed one day while on a conference call that I was not receiving into my inbox an email that was just sent to me with a power point presentation. When I took it out of cached mode I saw the emails, 3 that were sent in total. So I toggled cached mode, online mode a few times and adjusted the sync period and they started showing up in my inbox in cached mode.

Problems never go away that easy!!!!!!

So today I went into a shared account and in a particular folder there were missing items. Mostly items with attachments. There were a few emails listed about 15 or so but there are close to 2,000 emails in that folder mostly all with attachments. I deleted the OST and there is no difference, still the same number of emails as before.

Tried the toggle routine but that didn't have any effect.

So I right click on the folder and go to properties and click the synchronization tab. It says "Last synchronized on: Never" , though there are items displayed, even after deleting the OST. It also says "Server folder contains 2,007" and "Offline folder contains 12".

So I click filter and more choices and none of the options will allow me to sync all types of emails so I chose "Only items with:" and selected "one or more attachments".

All the emails with attachments are now visible and now the properties still says "Last synchronized on: Never" but now "Server folder contains: 2,007" and "Offline folder contains: 1,998".

Well I then clear the filter and low and behold, "Last syncronized on: Never" "folder contains: 2,007" and "Offline folder contains:" wait for it..................     "2,007"! And new items with attachments are coming in.

WHAT THE _____. This is BAD because I am tasked with rolling out Office 2013 and caching is a must for my environment! But I cannot go live with such a bug or misconfiguration.

I've seen a few threads around the interweb about similar situations but nothing very clear and no real troubleshooting details.

Delegated Tri-Fold printing

I'm trying to support an assistant who is trying to print their boss's calendar in tri-fold view with the Daily Task list in the middle, however it is not allowing this.  In page setup, it says it can do it, but in the preview and define style the Daily Tasks are not an option, when printing from personal calendar, it appears to work normally.  I know that this question has been addressed before, but as one was negative and was from a few years back, and one is unanswered from last year, was hoping a new method is available.

Office 365 email deployment using Outlook 2010 and PRF files

$

Hi,

I've been struggling to get Outlook 2010 setup with a new Office 365 deployment. I would like to use custom PRF files to get the new Outlook profiles configured. I have more than 100 users.

One of PRF files I'm using is shown at the end of this message. Each user will get a custom PRF file with his/her information already configured (mailbox, server name, etc...). I've obtained the corresponding Exchange server using:

Get-Mailbox <email> | select ExchangeGUID

I've attached the domain at the end of the GUID and then that's the Exchange server. It matches what you get with Outlook using Autodiscover.

Using these PRF fies I'm able to create a new default profile and set all the parameters as if I had create the profile manually. Two problems here though:

1) I don't know what to change in the PRF file to set the Logon Network Security to Anonymous Authentication under the Security tab (Exchange account properties)

2) When Outlook asks me for the username and password, it won't take it, and I know I'm using the right credentials. If I create the profile manually (not using Autodiscover) and I use the same configuration parameters in the PRF file, everything is ok. I have already run all the updates and tools that come as part of Setup Desktop in Office 365. Actually I get the same results with Outlook 2013.

I'm looking for some help here or ideas how to roll Office 365 without having to go user by user and creating a new profile and waiting for Autodiscover to finish :)
